Maintains an accurate daily attendance roster and submits attendance sheets. Submits attendance information for billing. Monitors route times and route time maximums to ensure schedules are met. Assures an up-to-date route sheet is maintained for each scheduled route. Ensures each scheduled route is appropriately covered by assigning available substitute drivers and driver assistants as needed. Utilizes Samsara fleet management software to track vehicles, monitor routes, and support dispatch decisions. Maintains cordial working relationships with assigned drivers and driver assistants. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of all facets of driver and driver assistant duties. Ensures that drivers and driver assistants clock their time accurately. Communicates with department employees and dispatches personnel to needed locations to respond to emergency situations. Maintains current knowledge of routes and locations to assure timely service and accurate information. Communicates with parents, supervisors, school administrators, and department employees; receives requests, questions, concerns, and suggestions, and provides routine information and assistance or routes inquiries to appropriate personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Commercial Driver License (preferred not required). Basic record-keeping techniques. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Telephone techniques and etiquette; ability to speak clearly and distinctly. Ability to perform dispatching and clerical support duties for an assigned department. Ability to learn and apply applicable department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Health and safety regulations. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed. Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
