Job Summary Join our dedicated emergency response team as a 911 Telecommunicator/Dispatcher, where you will be the vital link between callers in urgent need and first responders. In this fast-paced, high-stakes role, you will provide critical communication support by accurately assessing situations, dispatching appropriate emergency services, and maintaining clear, calm communication with the public and law enforcement personnel. Your expertise will help save lives, protect property, and ensure swift response times in times of crisis. Responsibilities Receive emergency calls via multi-line phone systems, ensuring prompt and professional communication with callers. Conduct thorough phone triage to gather essential information about incidents, injuries, or threats, utilizing emergency medical dispatch protocols when necessary. Dispatch fire, and other first responders using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software and radio communication systems. Maintain accurate records of all calls and dispatch activities through detailed documentation and data entry. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to pinpoint incident locations precisely for rapid response. Manage conflict situations with professionalism and negotiation skills while maintaining calmness under pressure. Monitor multiple radio channels simultaneously, ensuring effective communication between responders and coordinating resources efficiently. Stay updated on dispatch procedures, security protocols, and policies to ensure compliance during all operations. Demonstrate strong analysis skills to assess evolving situations quickly and prioritize responses accordingly. Requirements Prior experience related emergency medical services is preferred . Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, GPS technology, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software is essential for efficient operations. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone etiquette and maintain professionalism during stressful situations. Strong typing skills with high accuracy; proficiency in data entry and transcription is necessary for record keeping. Technical proficiency with telephony systems, multi-line phones, radio communication equipment, and security systems is vital. Ability to handle conflict management effectively while demonstrating patience and negotiation skills. Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—are crucial for documenting incidents accurately and conveying information clearly to responders. Must be able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a 24/7 operation.
