As a Dispatcher , you'll keep drivers, equipment, permits, and customers aligned so oversized loads move safely, legally, and on schedule. Your ability to communicate clearly, solve problems quickly, and adapt to changing conditions will have a direct impact on operational success and customer satisfaction. What You'll Do Schedule and dispatch drivers and equipment for heavy haul transportation across multiple regions. Monitor active jobs and adjust schedules as conditions change due to weather, traffic, equipment, or customer needs. Communicate load details, routing instructions, and special requirements to drivers. Coordinate with the permitting team to ensure loads move within approved travel windows. Relay permit restrictions, routing information, and travel requirements to drivers. Track driver availability and support DOT Hours of Service (HOS) compliance. Coordinate equipment availability and assist with load planning. Serve as the communication hub between drivers, operations, customers, and internal departments. Maintain dispatch logs, trip records, and operational documentation. Provide accurate job completion information to support reporting, billing, and invoicing. What You Need to Succeed High school diploma or equivalent required. 2-4 years of dispatch experience, preferably in heavy haul, specialized transportation, construction, or logistics. Experience coordinating multiple drivers, schedules, and equipment simultaneously. Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements. Experience with dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with oversized load permitting is preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to remain calm, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions under pressure. Professional communication skills with drivers, customers, and internal teams. A Day in the Life No two days are exactly alike. One moment you'll be assigning drivers to upcoming loads, and the next you'll be adjusting schedules around permit changes, weather delays, or equipment availability. Throughout the day you'll stay in constant communication with drivers, operations, customers, and the permitting team to keep freight moving safely and efficiently while ensuring accurate documentation for every trip.
