Job Description

Job Title:
: Project Manager -
Natural Gas Pipelines & Facilities Location:
Brea, CA (Hybrid)
Duration:
Full time Role Overview Client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and expand our Pipeline & Facilities . In this role, you will hold cradle-to-grave accountability for complex utility infrastructure projects - with a primary focus on natural gas transmission, distribution, and facility systems. You will balance end-to-end EPC project delivery (safety, financials, scheduling, engineering workflows) with client relationship management and business development across Southern California and the broader Western region.
Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & EPC Execution:
Oversee all phases of multi-discipline natural gas pipeline and facility projects from concept through detailed engineering, permitting, procurement, constructability reviews, construction support, and closeout.
Financial & Schedule Controls:
Own project-level P&L. Develop, monitor, and maintain detailed cost forecasts, earned value metrics, accruals, schedule attainment, and resource allocations.
Client Coordination & Business Development:
Serve as the primary client interface. Identify expansion opportunities, lead proposal efforts (RFP/RFQ responses, cost/technical proposals, and presentations), negotiate contracts, and nurture long-term utility relationships.
Cross-Discipline Leadership:
Direct and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, environmental, and permitting). Ensure efficient staff utilization and compliance with internal QA/QC standards.
Risk & Compliance Management:
Lead internal and client-facing project risk assessments. Ensure strict compliance with federal (DOT/PHMSA), state (CPUC), and regional environmental/safety regulations. Immediate 30-60 Day Objectives Take command of active project financials, establishing tight control over budget tracking, billing, and schedule baselines. Step into ongoing workflow coordination, aligning internal cross-functional engineering disciplines and subconsultants. Interface directly with key utility stakeholders to confirm deliverable milestones and scope alignment.
Qualifications & Experience Must-Have Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience:
Minimum 7+ years of total design/engineering experience, including 3+ years directly managing engineering projects.
Domain Expertise:
Demonstrated project management background in natural gas transmission pipelines, compressor stations, metering/regulating (M&R) stations, or related gas utility facilities.
Commercial Acumen:
Proven track record in project cost control, scheduling software, contract negotiation, and client-facing business development. Preferred /
Nice-to-Have:
Professional Licensure /
Certifications:
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP).
California Utility Exposure:
Direct working knowledge of major California gas utilities (e.g., SoCalGas, SDG&E, PG&E) and California regulatory/permitting frameworks (CPUC, CEQA). Consulting /
EPC Background:
Prior consulting or EPC firm background delivering large-scale utility infrastructure.
Education:
Master's degree in Engineering Management, Business, or technical discipline (can substitute for 1 year of experience).
