Janitor / Facilities Cleaning Specialist We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Janitor / Facilities Specialist to join our team at a premier private country club. This position plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, appearance, and overall presentation of our facilities to the high standards expected by our members, guests, and team. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable performing physically demanding, hands-on tasks. This position is responsible for daily cleaning and sanitation, floor care, operation of commercial cleaning equipment, window and elevated-area cleaning, waste removal, and assisting with general facility upkeep as needed. The successful candidate understands that in a private club environment, presentation matters. Floors should be spotless and polished, windows streak-free, restrooms immaculate, and common areas consistently clean, safe, and welcoming. Essential Responsibilities Clean, maintain, and detail assigned club facilities, including offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, service areas, back-of-house spaces, and other designated areas. Perform routine cleaning, deep cleaning, and sanitation duties to maintain exceptional facility standards. Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, polish, burnish, and buff various types of flooring. Operate commercial cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, vacuums, carpet extractors, and other powered equipment. Maintain floors and hard surfaces to achieve a clean, polished, high-end appearance. Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, fixtures, and other glass surfaces to a professional standard. Safely use ladders and appropriate equipment to clean elevated areas, vents, light fixtures, walls, ledges, windows, and other hard-to-reach locations. Dust and clean overhead areas and ensure details are not overlooked. Clean and sanitize restrooms and high-traffic areas throughout the facility. Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain clean and sanitary waste areas. Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and unexpected cleaning needs. Safely handle, use, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with established safety procedures and manufacturer instructions. Maintain cleaning equipment, supplies, and storage areas in an orderly and sanitary condition. Inspect equipment and report damaged, unsafe, or malfunctioning equipment promptly. Assist with moving, positioning, setup, and breakdown of furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed. Assist with basic facility upkeep, including minor repairs, touch-up painting, and other maintenance or cleaning projects as assigned. Follow all safety procedures and established sanitation standards to help maintain a safe workplace and guest environment. Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and courteous demeanor when interacting with members, guests, vendors, and coworkers. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall cleanliness and operation of the club. Qualifications Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, hotel, resort, country club, commercial, or industrial cleaning experience preferred. Experience operating commercial floor-care equipment strongly preferred. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and chemical-handling procedures. Experience with floor care, window cleaning, elevated-area cleaning, or general facility maintenance is a plus. Ability to safely operate ladders, floor-care machinery, vacuums, and other commercial cleaning equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to changing cleaning and facility needs. Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills. Ability to work discreetly and professionally around club members and guests. Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements This is an active, physically demanding position. The employee must be able to: Lift and carry up to 75 pounds safely. Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday. Safely climb and work from ladders when performing elevated-area cleaning. Operate commercial floor-cleaning machinery and other powered equipment. Perform repetitive physical tasks and remain on their feet for extended periods. Move and handle cleaning supplies, equipment, furniture, and other materials as required. Work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions when necessary. Safely perform tasks involving cleaning chemicals and equipment while following required safety procedures.
