Facilities Technician Job Description This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a versatile facilities technician who enjoys tackling a wide variety of tasks across an office and light industrial environment. You will support ongoing projects to reconfigure office spaces, maintain building systems, and keep the facility clean, safe, and efficient. The position starts with a major project focused on dismantling and reorganizing office cubicles and partitions, with ongoing responsibilities that span basic maintenance, repairs, and housekeeping. There is strong potential for this role to transition into a full-time position based on performance and demonstrated value. Responsibilities Disassemble office cubicles, partitions, and related structures in unused office areas using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. Clear and reorganize office spaces to support a more open floor design, enabling teams to gather around large tables with blueprints and schematics. Use hand tools safely and effectively to break down, move, and reassemble furniture and fixtures as needed. Perform painting tasks, including surface preparation, touch-ups, and full wall painting in office and common areas. Carry out minor drywall and sheetrock repairs, including patching holes, sanding, and finishing surfaces for painting. Clean bathrooms and common areas, ensuring they remain tidy, sanitary, and presentable. Sweep floors and maintain cleanliness in office spaces, hallways, and other interior areas. Pick up trash and debris in the parking lot and exterior areas to maintain a clean and safe environment. Rearrange and move office furniture, equipment, and fixtures according to layout changes and project requirements. Replace light bulbs and perform basic lighting maintenance as needed. Assist with basic plumbing-related tasks such as snaking drains or toilets when required. Provide general facilities maintenance support across the building, including housekeeping and light repair tasks. Offer courteous and helpful customer service to employees and visitors when addressing facilities-related requests. Remain flexible and willing to assist with odd projects and miscellaneous tasks to maintain a full 40-hour workweek. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to prioritize tasks and complete projects safely and on time. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and similar tools used for disassembly and light maintenance. Ability to perform painting tasks, including basic preparation and finishing work. Experience with minor drywall and sheetrock repairs, including patching and surface finishing. Experience in facilities maintenance, repair, or handyman-type work. Experience with general housekeeping and cleaning tasks, including bathrooms and common areas. Familiarity with janitorial duties such as sweeping, trash removal, and general upkeep. Ability to perform basic plumbing-related tasks such as snaking drains or toilets under guidance. Strong customer service orientation when interacting with internal staff and visitors. Willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks and support different areas of the facility as needed. Reliability and commitment to maintaining a consistent 40-hour workweek. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any exposure to mechanical systems is a plus. Any exposure to electrical systems is a plus. Any exposure to plumbing systems is a plus. Any exposure to HVAC systems is a plus. No professional licensing is required; broader mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC exposure simply allows for a wider range of tasks. Work Environment This position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work routine. You will work primarily in office areas, common spaces, restrooms, and adjacent facility areas, with some tasks in parking lots and exterior grounds. The environment includes standard office furniture, cubicles, partitions, and large tables used for blueprints and schematics. You will regularly use hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers, as well as basic maintenance and cleaning equipment. Work involves physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and moving furniture and materials. Dress should be practical and appropriate for maintenance and cleaning activities, with suitable footwear and attire for a hands-on facilities role. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Enfield, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
