Encompass Health seeks a Facilities Management Director to lead all building, grounds, and life-safety operations for our inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Reporting to hospital leadership, you will oversee maintenance, environmental services, and plant operations to ensure a safe, compliant, and patient-centered environment. Responsibilities include managing staff and vendors, regulatory readiness (Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA), capital planning, preventive maintenance, emergency preparedness, and budget oversight. You will collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to support high-quality, interdisciplinary rehabilitation care and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities Lead daily facilities, maintenance, and plant operations for the rehabilitation hospital Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, life-safety, and local building codes Oversee preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems Manage facilities staff, schedules, performance, and development Coordinate environmental services and support a clean, safe, patient-centered environment Develop and manage capital and operating budgets for facilities Direct vendor and contractor relationships and service contracts Lead emergency preparedness, life-safety drills, and response planning Plan and oversee renovation, repair, and small construction projects Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to support operational and patient-care needs Required Skills Healthcare facilities management Building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) Regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA) Capital planning and budgeting Preventive maintenance programs Vendor and contract management Environmental health and safety (EHS) Emergency preparedness and life safety Project and construction management Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
