Facility Director We are an overnight summer camp property in the Berkshires, seeking a Facility Director to oversee the care, maintenance, safety, and ongoing improvement of our camp. Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional who takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly and safely year-round. About the Role This is a full-time, year-round position with a unique seasonal rhythm each year.
May-August:
Our busy season! Day-to-day during summer camp is fast-paced and includes daily maintenance, repairs, grounds upkeep and support to camp operations.
Summer schedule:
Six days on, one day off each week, with some evening and weekend availability as needed.
September-April:
The off-season follows a more predictable, project-focused schedule. Typical days involve preventative maintenance, renovations, construction and improvement projects, grounds work, planning and preparing the property for the upcoming summer.
Off-season schedule:
Typically 4-5 days per week, depending on the time of year and current projects. Key Responsibilities Oversee the year-round care, maintenance and repair of camp buildings, grounds, equipment, and infrastructure Perform hands-on carpentry, general construction, plumbing, electrical, painting, and other maintenance work Support the care and maintenance of camp's waterfront, grounds and other outdoor spaces Coordinate outside contractors and vendors for projects Develop and maintain a year-round maintenance and improvement plan in collaboration with the Camp Director Manage facilities-related purchasing, materials, tools, and supplies Experience with budgeting for general maintenance as well as capital improvements Supervise year-round and seasonal maintenance team What We're Looking For At least 5 years of experience in facilities, construction, property maintenance, or a related field Strong carpentry and general construction skills Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC Detail-oriented and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming property Has a strong commitment to safety and good judgment Has a positive, can-do attitude and enjoys being part of a camp community Experience with landscaping, drainage, septic systems, small engines, waterfront facilities, or other camp-specific systems is a plus. Licensed tradesperson preferred. Must be able to provide verifiable work history, professional references and be able to pass a background check. Compensation & Benefits $52,000-$55,000 annual salary, based on experience Health, dental and vision insurance 401(k) plan Paid time off Meals provided on-site during the summer
