Full-Time Exempt Administrator Salary Range:
$69,000 - $75,000 Position Summary River Valley School District seeks an experienced Director of Facilities and Operations to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of facilities, maintenance, custodial services, grounds, environmental safety, regulatory compliance, and capital improvement programs. The Director ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environments through effective resource management, long-range planning, operational excellence, and support of student success. Leadership & Administration Provide leadership for facilities, maintenance, custodial, grounds, and operational services. Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff while establishing departmental goals, performance measures, and priorities aligned with district objectives. Foster accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement while maintaining effective communication with district and building leadership regarding facility needs and priorities. Facilities & Operations Management Oversee maintenance, custodial, grounds, and building system operations to ensure safe, clean, functional, and efficient facilities. Conduct facility inspections, manage preventive maintenance programs, monitor asset condition and lifecycle needs, and respond to facility concerns and emergencies. Coordinate operational support for instructional programs, extracurricular activities, community events, and district functions while maximizing labor and resource efficiency. Capital Planning & Projects Lead capital improvement, renovation, bond-funded, and sinking fund projects from planning and design through construction and closeout. Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure projects meet budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements. Maintain long-range facility plans and evaluate infrastructure needs to support future capital investments. Budget & Resource Management Develop and administer facilities and operations budgets. Oversee procurement, contract services, expenditure monitoring, and multi-year replacement planning for facilities, equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure. Analyze costs and operational performance to improve efficiency and long-term value. Compliance, Safety & Stakeholder Relations Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, ADA, AHERA, environmental regulations, and applicable building and fire codes. Oversee safety, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness, and life-safety inspection programs. Collaborate with district staff, municipal agencies, vendors, consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders to communicate priorities, coordinate services, and support district operations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities, operations, maintenance, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, capital projects, and operational systems. Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, preventive maintenance, facility planning, safety regulations, and environmental compliance. Relevant certifications, licenses, and strong project management and leadership skills preferred. K-12, public-sector, or similarly complex multi-facility experience is preferred Additional Duties Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. Physical Demands and Work Environment Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Work occurs in offices, school facilities, mechanical spaces, construction environments, and outdoor settings. Noise levels range from moderate to loud depending upon location and activity.
