Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Facilities is responsible for YMCA of Paterson maintenance and oversees the maintenance, cleanliness, repair and security of camp areas, grounds, and equipment. This position oversees the procurement of contractors for work at the facilities, supervises contractors and staff maintenance employees, prioritizes current and future projects, and consults with YMCA Executives to develop appropriate budgets and forecasts based on estimates of projects, and implements preventative maintenance plans and record keeping methods. Further, negotiates with vendors to receive optimal pricing and service contracts. The Facility Director also works to advance and leverage the YMCA of Paterson's cause and brand.

  • YMCA Team Leadership certifications must be acquired in a timely manner Areas of Responsibility Contacts and negotiates contracts with outside vendors when necessary to complete repairs or projects and develops group purchasing initiatives for items such as heating, electricity, natural gas, cleaning supplies, chemicals, plumbing, etc.
Directs ongoing building maintenance, capital improvement and current/future remodeling of The YMCA of Paterson Develops and implements preventive maintenance plans and ensures their compliance approved by the CEO Develops and manages maintenance and improvements budget in cooperation with the CEO. Ensures compliance with state and local permitting requirements. Works with the Wellness Center staff to provide preventative maintenance for all fitness equipment, and work with aquatics staff to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of swimming pool Prioritizes work orders and labor distribution Works with the Vice Presidents/CFO/CEO on developing long term capital improvement priorities. Oversee future building and construction projects, including but not limited to, utilities, electricity, plumbing, pools, outdoor facilities, etc. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates maintenance staff, which includes full and part-time staff. Maintains grounds and equipment including regular survey of site to identify maintenance and repair needs, development of maintenance plan, purchasing of materials/supplies, coordinating routine maintenance, winterizing and de-winterizing, and landscaping. Maintains YMCA vehicles in safe operating condition through inspections, preventive maintenance and prompt repairs. Work with staff to maintain parking lot, sidewalks, including inspections, preventive maintenance, removal of debris, and ensuring proper signage. Develops appropriate budgets, and monitors and authorizes expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines. Specific budgets include maintenance/facilities, vehicles and forestry operating expenses. Oversees waste management plan of composting, recycling and disposing of all site generated waste. Ensures that site and facilities meet standards set by the American Camping Association, NJ state health codes and building codes. Monitors and directs housekeeping duties performed by maintenance and program staff to ensure proper procedures are followed and facilities meet the standard of sanitation and cleanliness. Conducts meetings with staff on a consistent basis
  • Participates in meetings, groups, coalition, etc. that leverages and expands the YMCA of Paterson's cause, purpose and brand.
  • Participates in Y activities, such as committees, special events, Healthy Kids Day and Annual Campaign, holiday events, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by VP and CEO, Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent education/experience.
Five or more years in facility management to closely related field Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance- related areas. Skills in supervision, budget management and project management and ability to use personal computers. "POOL" operation certification required within 120 days of employment
  • Ability to transport materials and travel to various locations required.
First Aid/CPR certifications required. Excellent Punctuality Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
