Job Description

Forge Job DescriptionFork Truck DriverPosition Summary The Fork Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently moving raw materials, work-in-process parts, fabricated components, and finished products throughout the facility. This position supports production by ensuring materials and parts are moved between departments in a timely manner and finished products are properly staged for storage or shipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Safely operate forklifts to move materials and products throughout the facility.
  • Move raw materials and work-in-process parts between production departments.
  • Deliver materials to production areas as needed.
  • Move completed parts to the next stage of production.
  • Remove completed or excess materials from production areas.
  • Move finished products to designated staging or storage areas.
  • Stage finished products for shipping.
  • Move pallets, racks, containers, fabricated parts, and other materials.
  • Verify that the correct materials and parts are being moved to the correct locations.
  • Monitor production areas for material movement needs.
  • Respond to requests from production personnel and supervisors.
  • Help prevent production delays by keeping materials moving.
  • Handle products carefully to prevent damage.
  • Report damaged, missing, or incorrectly identified materials.
  • Assist shipping and receiving with loading and unloading when directed and trained.
  • Maintain organized staging and storage areas.
  • Keep aisles and emergency access areas clear.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Forklift Safety
  • Operate forklifts only after completing required training and certification.
  • Perform required pre-operation inspections.
  • Follow all company forklift procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain safe speeds and clear visibility.
  • Use caution around intersections, blind areas, pedestrians, and other equipment.
  • Never exceed the rated capacity of the forklift.
  • Properly balance and secure loads.
  • Follow designated forklift traffic routes.
  • Use required PPE.
  • Report equipment problems, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Never bypass safety equipment or use a forklift improperly.
Qualifications Required:
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to complete required training.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to identify parts, materials, and designated locations.
  • Good awareness of surroundings while operating mobile equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
Preferred:
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • Manufacturing or metal fabrication experience.
  • Experience moving large, heavy, or oversized materials.
  • Experience operating multiple types of material-handling equipment. Physical & Working Conditions
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and entering/exiting the forklift.
  • Ability to handle materials as required.
  • Work around large and heavy metal products.
  • Exposure to noise, forklifts, cranes, machinery, dust, metal debris, and other manufacturing conditions.
  • Work in various areas of the facility and potentially varying temperatures.
Performance Expectations The successful employee is expected to operate equipment safely, keep materials moving efficiently, deliver the correct parts to the correct locations, support production priorities, prevent product damage, maintain organized staging areas, and communicate effectively with production and management.

Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
