Full-Time / Temporary-to-Hire Position Summary
  • The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating powered industrial trucks to move, stage, load, and unload materials throughout a high-volume bus manufacturing facility.
This position supports production by ensuring materials, components, parts, and supplies are delivered to the appropriate work areas in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and able to operate a forklift around employees, equipment, and large vehicle assemblies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment throughout the manufacturing facility. Load, unload, transport, and stage materials, components, pallets, and production supplies. Deliver materials to production lines and designated work areas based on production needs. Remove finished materials, empty containers, pallets, and scrap from production areas. Inspect forklift equipment before each shift and report any maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain accurate inventory locations and ensure materials are placed in designated areas. Safely maneuver around buses, manufacturing equipment, employees, and other powered industrial vehicles. Follow established traffic patterns, speed limits, pedestrian safety procedures, and facility rules. Assist with receiving, shipping, staging, and material-handling activities as needed. Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and forklift operating procedures. Communicate effectively with supervisors, production employees, and material-handling teams. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous forklift experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, automotive, or industrial environment preferred. Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift. Previous experience moving large, heavy, or oversized materials preferred. Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to repeatedly enter and exit forklift equipment. Ability to lift and move materials as required by the position. Ability to work around moving machinery, vehicles, and manufacturing equipment. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and other industrial conditions. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
