Job Overview:
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the leadership, performance, and operational excellence of Nova Farms' Attleboro retail location. This role supports the General Manager in overseeing all store operations including staff leadership, regulatory compliance, sales performance, inventory management, and customer experience. This top-10 Massachusetts dispensary requires a high level of accountability and care. The Assistant General Manager is accountable for supporting revenue growth, coaching and training a high-performing team, maintaining strict compliance with regulations, and delivering an exceptional retail experience that reflects Nova Farms' brand standards. A flexible and open availability is required. This role requires strong operational leadership, attention to detail, and deep familiarity with cannabis retail compliance and inventory management systems. A positive, engaging, and energetic personality is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop the retail team including the Supervisors, Inventory Staff, and Budtenders. Embody a positive, accountable, and performance-driven workplace culture aligned with Nova Farms values. Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and corrective action as needed. Ensure consistent training, onboarding, and development of all retail staff. Fill gaps in store operations, leading from the front, and work all stations in the building. Retail Operations Oversee all daily store operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused performance. Consistently change, adapt, and improve processes. Ensure continuous coverage of the store is present during ALL operating hours. Maintain immaculate standards for store presentation, cleanliness, and customer experience. Guide the digital and physical customer experience. Address customer feedback and resolve concerns professionally and promptly. Ensure policies and operational procedures are followed consistently across all shifts. Drive store sales performance through effective leadership, merchandising, staff engagement, and pricing strategy. Execute inventory processes including receiving, reconciliation, auditing, and reporting. Compliance & Security Maintain full compliance with all Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission regulations and company policies. Ensure accurate product tracking, labeling, and reporting through METRC and internal systems. Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers, employees, and product inventory, reporting and documenting incidents as they occur. Community & Brand Representation Represent Nova Farms within the local community and at promotional events when appropriate. Acquire, grow and retain the customer base. Uphold and promote Nova Farms brand standards within the flagship location.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years or older. 3-5 years of dispensary/pharmacy retail management experience is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or similar degree preferred Advanced systems knowledge including METRC and cannabis POS systems (Sweed POS preferred). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Passionate about providing an exceptional, hospitality based customer experience. Reliable with a strong work ethic and a commitment to punctuality. Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment. Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and other retail technologies. Basic knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products. Previous experience in customer-service and training focused roles.
