full-time Chateau Grand Traverse is seeking a full-time, on-site Winery Business Manager to oversee the core financial, administrative and business functions of our family-owned winery, vineyard, Tasting Room and Inn on Old Mission Peninsula. Serving as our primary internal bookkeeper, this key management role also coordinates payroll and HR administration, regulatory compliance, office operations, facilities and technology, and company records. We are looking for an organized, highly accountable professional who is equally comfortable working with numbers, systems and people and can effectively manage responsibilities across the organization. The Winery Business Manager will play an important role in the next chapter of a well-established Michigan wine business, working closely with an experienced management team across all areas of the organization. Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping & Financial Administration Serve as the company's primary internal bookkeeper and manage day-to-day bookkeeping. Manage accounts payable, vendor records, purchasing documentation and payment processing. Process distributor orders, invoicing, accounts receivable support and payment reconciliation. Coordinate cash management, banking activities and retail transaction reconciliation. Support the Controller with financial records, reconciliations, reporting, audits and departmental expense tracking. Coordinate required excise and state tax reporting, business insurance documentation and regulatory deadlines. Payroll & Human Resources Administration Process payroll in partnership with the Controller, including wages, deductions, benefits, timekeeping and employee changes. Coordinate payroll reporting, audits, year-end processes and allocations between company entities. Administer hiring documentation, onboarding, offboarding and seasonal employee reactivation. Maintain personnel records, employment documentation and required employee certifications. Administer employee insurance, benefits, open enrollment and 401(k) coordination. Support department managers with recruiting, employee review documentation and other HR processes. Business Operations Coordinate day-to-day office administration and maintain company records and documentation. Manage outside vendors and service providers supporting facilities, maintenance, security and technology. Coordinate employee hardware, software, system access and routine IT support. Maintain company policies, SOPs and other organizational records. Coordinate required licenses, permits, inspections, safety documentation and regulatory renewals. Support the Management Committee with meetings, cross-department initiatives and special projects. What We're Looking For Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, accounting administration, business management or a related role. Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll and financial recordkeeping. Experience with HR administration, employee benefits and personnel records. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently. High level of accuracy, discretion and judgment when handling financial and employee information. Comfortable learning and working across accounting, payroll, HR, technology and operational systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments. Experience in a winery, hospitality, manufacturing, agricultural or other regulated business environment is valuable, but not required. Compensation & Benefits Full-time, salaried position with a compensation range of $68,000-$78,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and winery employee benefits.
