OVERVIEW
The Capital Area Health Alliance (CAHA), is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, governed by a board of directors. CAHA believes that everyone has the right to lead a healthy lifestyle and have access to affordable, quality healthcare resources. Founded in 1993, CAHA is a coalition of diverse organizations, businesses, healthcare professionals, and volunteers from Michigan's Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. As a neutral convening body, CAHA advocates for community and population health and for improvements in quality and access to healthcare resources, with the mission of empowering our community to achieve better health. CAHA is a trusted regional hub for collaboration with the proven ability to network and convene a broad, diverse group of stakeholders and form community partnerships to collectively address complex healthcare issues. A major focus of CAHA is Whole Person Care, Readiness for Care, and Health Equity. Whole Person Care recognizes that the best way to care for people is to consider their full spectrum of needs - medical, behavioral, and socioeconomic. Readiness for Care includes preparation for leadership, clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills, dynamic health systems, and coaching new generations of healthcare professionals. Health Equity is woven into all CAHA's work, with a focus on critically examining and addressing the impact that racism has on health. CAHA is seeking an accomplished non-profit executive leader to build on over thirty years of success in improving regional health. The ideal candidate is someone who is seen as an entrepreneurial visionary and who is passionate about authentic community partnerships as a strategy for health improvement. The ED must communicate effectively to maintain relationships across communities, disciplines, professions, and institutions. A skilled administrator and fundraiser, s/he will ensure the organization has the resources it needs to achieve the organization's mission and board-defined goals. The ED reports directly to the Board of Directors and is the organization's primary voice to the public.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership Provide visionary leadership and translate that vision into measurable strategies and concrete actions that advance the Alliance Develop and implement a sustainable strategic plan for the organization with the Board Be familiar with health policy and how it impacts the community as well as CAHA goals Program Development and Execution Develop direction and policy for CAHA's program efforts Organizational Excellence
•Support the Board of Directors in its governance role, foster its ongoing development, and keep it informed about internal conditions and external developments Financial Management Lead the financial and administrative functions to preserve CAHA's status as a well-managed, fiscally sound, and highly respected organization Fund Development Provide fundraising and resource development leadership for the organization Increase the organization's profile, sustainable funding base, impact and brand Secure adequate funding for the organization's operations, programs, and research projects from private and public sources, and supporting organizations Work with funders, foundations, health-related organizations, and government grants Relationship Management Develop and maintain professional relationships and uphold ethical standards of representation Serve as a spokesperson for the organization for purposes of program development, fundraising, and expanding visibility Engage with stakeholders to ensure that the Alliance understands their needs, concerns and assets and keep them informed of the work of the organization Represent CAHA in community health development efforts Engage and maintain racially and culturally diverse constituencies in all CAHA activities and initiatives Work collaboratively with other organizations to realize joint goals Participate in local, regional, and statewide professional organizations Membership Development Lead the membership development effort for CAHA. Recruit new organizational members Create a dashboard to track key community health outcome data
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates for this position will reflect CAHA's core values for health improvement and demonstrate the ability to quickly integrate into the community. Candidates should aspire to become an engaged, inspiring, and visionary leader who is driven to share CAHA's commitment to engaging the entire community to address local healthcare issues. Highly skilled collaborator with experience aligning multiple stakeholders around a shared vision.
• 5-10 years leadership experience plus bachelor's degree required, master's preferred, in a related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience Ability to serve as a convenor to a variety of health-related organizations and partners Self-motivated, able to work independently and proactively Experience working with racially and culturally diverse constituencies Knowledge of and experience working to advance health and racial equity The ability to think strategically and critically, interpret data, synthesize complex issues, identify new opportunities, and manage change Candidates should demonstrate a successful track record in fund development Experience working with a board of directors and developing engaged and effective governance Strong written and oral communication skills Use of basic computer technology and familiarity with social networking A background in healthcare or health policy preferred Knowledge of Mid-Michigan's Tri-County health environment
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Capital Area Health Alliance offers a competitive compensation package of $65,000-$90,000 which includes optional benefits.
