Relocation assistance available Lighthouse Automotive has spent more than 30 years serving North Carolina's Outer Banks, but longevity has never been an excuse to stop learning.
Our owners work with coaches, participate in industry groups, and continually challenge themselves to become better leaders. That same commitment to growth extends throughout the company. Asking questions is encouraged, people are trusted to make decisions, and accountability means owning an issue and helping solve it, not looking for someone to blame. Technicians and service advisors work as one team. Every voice matters, regardless of title or tenure. We joke around, enjoy the people we work with, and support one another when life happens. We take our work and our commitments seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. That is The Lighthouse Way, and it is the foundation of what we are building next. The Opportunity Lighthouse Automotive has grown from one successful repair shop into a two-location business with a talented team and plans for continued expansion. We are looking for a General Manager who can bring both locations together as one business, develop strong leaders, improve financial and operational performance, and help prepare Lighthouse for its next stage of growth. This is our senior operating role, reporting directly to the owners. You will have the authority to lead daily operations, make decisions, develop the team, and create the consistency the business needs to grow. The right person will not be expected to walk in and change everything overnight. Your first months will be spent learning the business, earning the team's trust, understanding the numbers, and working with the owners to establish clear priorities. From there, you will steadily take ownership of day-to-day operations while the owners focus more of their time on the future of Lighthouse. Compensation and Benefits $100,000
130,000+ in realistic annual compensation, including performance-based earning opportunities Medical, dental, and vision insurance through BCBS/NAPA, with Lighthouse paying 50% of the employee plan up to $400 SIMPLE IRA with a 3% company match Eight paid holidays Paid time off Monday-Friday operations with no weekend hours Professional development through coaching, industry groups, and training Negotiable relocation assistance for the right candidate What You'll Lead Developing people: Coach and grow store and service managers, strengthen accountability, and help team members become more confident and capable leaders.
Financial performance:
Own the P&L across both locations and turn sales, profitability, ARO, ELR, gross profit, and cash-flow data into informed action.
Operational consistency:
Strengthen workflows, SOPs, communication, and DVI quality so customers and employees have a consistent experience at either location.
Customer experience:
Protect the reputation Lighthouse has built, improve retention, and step in thoughtfully when a customer concern requires senior leadership.
Culture:
Model The Lighthouse Way, recognize people who live it, and address behavior that does not align with how we treat our team or our customers.
Future growth:
Build the people, structure, and systems that will allow Lighthouse to expand without losing what makes the company special. You will lead through managers rather than trying to personally solve every problem. Success means creating a business where expectations are clear, managers are equipped to lead, and the owners receive clarity without needing to be involved in every daily decision. What We're Looking For At least three years of experience leading an automotive, service, or retail operation with full P&L responsibility Experience leading through other managers, multiple departments, or multiple locations Strong financial understanding and the ability to use numbers to improve performance A coaching approach to leadership that combines support with clear accountability The confidence to make decisions, address concerns directly, and follow through Integrity, coachability, accountability, and genuine care for people Automotive service experience, particularly within an independent repair business, is strongly preferred. Familiarity with NAPA TRACS, AutoVitals, or similar shop management and DVI systems is also helpful. The Lighthouse Way Everything we do is guided by five principles: Continuous learning A client-centered approach Empowerment and autonomy Collaboration and teamwork Integrity and transparency These are not expectations that only apply to employees. The owners hold themselves to the same standards and believe leadership begins with their own willingness to learn, grow, and remain accountable. Build What Comes Next This is more than an opportunity to manage two automotive repair shops. It is a chance to develop leaders, shape a growing company, and help build something that will become stronger and more valuable each year. The owners are ready to trust the right leader with their people, their customers, and the daily operation of the business. In return, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact now and grow with Lighthouse Automotive as the company expands. If you are looking for a leadership role where your judgment will be trusted, your growth will be supported, and your work will help shape the future of the company, we would like to meet you!
