Job Description

Overview Roger Williams Day Care Center, established in 1970, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that provides full-time care for children from birth through pre-K, before and after school care, school vacations and summer programming for children grades K to 6. Roger Williams Day Care Center (RWDCC) is seeking a passionate, experienced leader to serve as Executive Director. This role calls for a visionary administrator with a deep commitment to early childhood education, family engagement, and community impact. In this role, your expertise will drive innovative programs that transform lives, strengthen community partnerships, and elevate organizational excellence. We're seeking a professional who leads with integrity, fosters collaboration, and cultivates a vibrant, supportive culture where children, staff and families thrive. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. Role Overview Leadership & Management Provide strategic leadership aligned with RWDCC's mission and Board direction Manage and collaborate with RWDCC's Team to execute internal and external goals Foster a positive, inclusive culture of teamwork and professional growth Keep the Board fully informed on organizational performance Program & Curriculum Development Oversee curriculum development with the Education and Site Coordinators Conduct annual program assessments and quality improvement planning Support the coordination of special education services and manage third‑party referrals Develop policies rooted in current child development research Lead hiring, evaluations, and Individual Professional Development Plans Financial Management Manage annual budget for financial stability and sustainability Collaborate with fiscal personnel to track enrollment, revenue, and Oversee CCAP, tuition, and CACFP billing accuracy Pursue grant writing, donor relations, and new revenue opportunities Ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance Family & Community Engagement Serve as primary spokesperson representing RWDCC in the community Ensure family voice is present in childcare policy and programming Connect families with social, mental health, educational, and medical services Build strong relationships with community partners, donors, and agencies Uphold RWDCC's positive reputation and commitment to equity and access Compliance & Regulatory Ensure compliance with RI DHS, DCYF, RIDE, BrightStars, and Fire Marshal Maintain DHS licensing compliance and timely renewal Oversee CANTS investigation protocols and licensing communications Ensure DHS Provider Portal profiles are current and complete Uphold all CACFP requirements
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher with knowledge of child development or early childhood education.
Experience:
5+ years of nonprofit or similar leadership experience.
Financial Acumen:
Fiscal oversight, grant management, strategic planning, and fund development experience.
Leadership:
Strong communication, team management, stakeholder engagement, and supervisory skills.
Nonprofit Governance:
Experience working with Board of directors in a mission-driven environment.
Community Understanding:
Knowledge of Providence Community Needs & Relationship Building with
Community Partners Compliance Requirements:
CANTS clearance; comprehensive background checks; CPR/First Aid certification; and
DHS/CLEP
