SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK
La Casa de Esperanza's Center for Financial Stability provides free tax assistance, financial coaching, and asset-building opportunities for low- to moderate-income residents throughout the State of Wisconsin. During tax season, the VITA Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all program activities, including site management, tax preparation and quality review; participant and volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision; marketing; case management; partner relations; and program reporting. As a CFS Associate, this position also provides department-wide support, including outreach efforts, financial counseling services, participant recruitment, volunteer recruitment, and overall operational support for the Center for Financial Stability, as needed.
VITA COORDINATOR PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer tax preparers and intake screeners. Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, VITA requirements, and quality review standards. Develop and improve processes, systems, and resources to support program efficiency. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the TaxSlayer software system. Promote collaboration, teamwork, diversity, and a positive volunteer and staff environment. Maintain current knowledge of tax preparation standards and industry best practices. Monitor service quality and enhance client experience through continuous process improvement. Review program data and performance metrics to track productivity and goal achievement. Prepare reports and maintain documentation to support program operations and management reporting. Oversee program activities to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. Collaborate with La Casa staff to increase access to VITA and financial stability resources. Connect clients with internal and external support services and community resources. Prepare tax returns at the Advanced certification level. Successfully complete all required IRS certifications and training. Follow all applicable health and safety protocols.
OTHER CFS ASSOCIATE RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with all organizational policies, funder requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain confidentiality of client records and sensitive information in accordance with grants, and organizational standards. Complete client intake, assessments, case management, data entry, and file maintenance in compliance with program guidelines. Track program data and prepare required reports for funders and organizational leadership. Manage workload, schedules, deadlines, and appointments to ensure effective service delivery and program compliance. Participate in outreach, community engagement, and collaborative efforts with internal staff and external partners. Provide support to Center for Financial Stability (CFS) programs during periods of increased demand or staffing needs. Represent La Casa and CFS at community events, resource fairs, and outreach activities.

PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to successfully complete IRS tax preparation certification at Advanced level.
- Experience working with low-income individuals/families dealing with multiple barriers to financial self-sufficiency.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Previous experience working with the Latino community is a plus.
- Proficient in
Microsoft Office:
word processing, spreadsheets, and internet use.
- Available to work evenings and Saturdays during tax season.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
