GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision and following established procedures, oversees pharmaceutical inventories by ordering, receiving, and delivering pharmaceuticals and related pharmacy supplies to assigned patient care areas.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages inventory levels in both the Central Pharmacy and Stockroom in accordance with established PAR levels. Receive incoming pharmacy shipments from dock area; unpack shipments and checks stock by comparing manufacturers packing list with record of hospital purchase order. Follows established procedures to document and resolve discrepancies in shipments. Ensures pricing is consistent with pharmacy contracts. Prepare and deliver floor stock drugs and pharmaceutical supplies to nursing units and other cost centers. Inventory and reorder medications and supplies as needed in the pharmacy and I.V. room. Write-up charge slips and month-end billing totals for floor stock requisitions. Cleans unit-dose carts and cassettes daily Restock floor stock I.V.'s on all nursing units Process pharmaceutical requisitions from clinics, central pharmacy, PCAP's, nursing units, hospital-owned medical practices, and other cost centers. Delivers the requisitioned items to appropriate cost center or dock for shipment. Places all inventory received from vendors under proper storage and/or delivers to user department. Inspects inventory to identify "about to expire" medications and arranges for drug return to vendor or manufacturer for financial credit Rotates inventory monthly. Receives and handles telephone inquiries from nursing units, off-site medical practices, urgent cares, PCAP's and ancillary support areas regarding inventory, related procedures, and pharmaceutical requisitions. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. One year of material management or inventory control experience preferred. Basic computer skills
