Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm Pay- $18.00/hr Position Summary The Litter Abatement Worker helps keep assigned public and work areas clean, safe, and presentable. The employee removes litter and debris, sorts and disposes of collected materials, and reports hazards or maintenance concerns to the supervisor. Work is performed outdoors at assigned locations and may be completed as part of a crew. Essential Duties
- Collect litter and nonhazardous debris from assigned sidewalks, parking areas, landscaped areas, and other designated sites.
- Use approved hand tools and supplies, such as litter grabbers, brooms, dustpans, bags, and carts, according to training.
- Separate recyclable material when directed and place collected material in designated containers.
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and instructions; complete work records when required.
- Inspect work areas for sharp objects, spills, traffic, uneven ground, and other hazards; keep a safe distance and notify the supervisor when specialized cleanup is needed.
- Wear assigned protective equipment and follow safety procedures, including safe lifting, tool use, hand hygiene, and heat precautions.
- Maintain tools and supplies in clean, usable condition and report damage or shortages.
- Work respectfully with coworkers, supervisors, and members of the public; refer questions or concerns to the supervisor.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the position and training. Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to follow verbal, written, or demonstrated instructions and carry out assigned tasks safely.
- Ability to identify routine hazards and promptly report situations outside the scope of assigned work.
- Dependability, attention to detail, and ability to work cooperatively with a crew or independently as assigned.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and protective equipment after training.
- Previous groundskeeping, custodial, or outdoor work experience is helpful but is not required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment This position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, grasping, and carrying bags, tools, or supplies. Work is primarily outdoors and may involve sun, heat, cold, wind, noise, and uneven surfaces. Employees may work near pedestrian areas or vehicle traffic and must follow the site safety plan. Specific lifting limits and any required travel should be confirmed for the assigned site. Reasonable accommodations may be available to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
