Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Reports to: Head Grower, Grower Lead, or Assigned Supervisor Job Description The Grower Laborer is a full-time, entry-level position responsible for supporting daily greenhouse operations and foundational plant care. This role contributes directly to plant health, sanitation, and efficient workflow within the Growing Department. The individual will receive structured training in proper watering techniques, crop maintenance, and greenhouse operating standards. Successful Grower Laborers may be considered for development into Grower Assistant roles based on performance, attitude, and skill mastery. General Duties and Responsibilities Initial Training and General Labor Assignments Complete introductory orientation to the Growing Department. Perform general labor tasks used to evaluate work ethic, attitude, and ability to follow instructions, including: Weed spraying Fertilizer mixing Cleaning greenhouse bays, walkways, and flood tanks Seed room work Outdoor spraying and seasonal tasks (e.g., mums) Proactively report to the supervisor when assigned tasks are completed. Demonstrate reliability, conscientious performance, and willingness to learn. Early Growing Responsibilities and Skill Development Begin learning and mastering proper watering techniques, including operation of watering booms. Maintain a small assigned crop area and follow the water-level guide provided by the supervisor. Assists with preparation and cleanup for chemical and biological applications under supervision. Maintain accurate and compliant records of all materials applied to plants. Begin introductory training in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including basic pest recognition and documentation. Irrigator-Level Skill Progression (as competency increases) Develop increasing proficiency in moisture management and irrigation decisions. Expand work area over time to include larger crop sections (3-5 acres of finished plant material). Learn all boom-related functions such as irrigating, chemical applications, and hydraulic spraying in assigned areas. Begin basic training with the PulseFogger. Receive initial exposure to propagation tasks (e.g., mums, poinsettias, or assisting spring propagation activities). Departmental Support Maintain clean, safe, and organized greenhouse work areas. Support routine greenhouse operations as assigned by the Grower Lead or Head Grower. Skills and Qualifications Ability to meet physical requirements: standing/walking for extended periods, bending and reaching repeatedly, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed during peak seasons. Reliable, self-motivated, energetic, and detail oriented. Able to work independently or within a team, depending on task requirements. Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Safety-conscious mindset with adherence to PPE and greenhouse protocols. Good communication skills and willingness to take direction. Dependability and consistent attendance are essential. Schedule/Hours This is a full-time position scheduled for approximately 40 hours per week and requires participation in rotating weekend and holiday coverage as part of the greenhouse schedule.

7:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.
