Job Description

An AUI employee is dependable, passionate, dedicated and inspired. The Underground Groundhand position will assist Underground line crew members, handing tools and heavy materials to workers, dig holes and ditches, and perform other similar work in connection with the construction and maintenance of underground power lines.
Essential Functions:
Follow safety rules and regulations to promote a positive safety culture Passes tools to line crew members by acting as a general helper on the ground. Handles cables, conduit and other materials as directed. Assists in setting transformers. Assists line crew with setting poles by shoveling or piking; fills anchor holes Clears undergrowth from right-of-way by using hand tools or saws in a safe manner Hand Digging, ditches/holes using hand tools Clean equipment, trucks, hand tools Keep work area clear and clean of debris Move debris & dirt, from one place to another using a shovel, rake, or other tools to remove excess material, and fill in holes Learn to operate power-driven machinery such as: excavator, skid steer, jackhammer, tamper, & drills Site clean-up
Qualifications:
Able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis Work safely outside in various weather conditions Valid Driver's License High school diploma or GED 1 year utility experience (preferably in the construction industry) Willingness to obtain Tanker Endorsement (preferred)
Minimum Requirements:
Able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 150 days of employment (Company paid training) Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required (storm or emergency work) Willing to work over-time when requested in support of storm or emergency work Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening required What you'll get at
