FUNCTION

Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks in the maintenance, and repair of public works, parks, and other City facilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Public Service, NATURE OF WORK Work involves responsibility for performing duties primarily requiring physical exertion. Work involves the use of manual tools or routine tasks and use of small power tools and equipment. Work may involve the use of automotive equipment and motorized equipment. Tasks range over a wide variety of municipal activities, including light and heavy physical labor. Tasks require a variety of motions to include standing, walking, lifting above shoulders, bending, twisting, and stooping. Exposure of varying weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.

Performs heavy manual labor for extended periods under sometimes unfavorable conditions. 2. Lifting objects up to 80 pounds. Occasional lifting of object over 80 pounds with assistance. 3. Climbing of ladders and working in tight or confined spaces. 4. Clean and maintain vehicles, tools and equipment used in the course of work. 5. Assists Service Department with the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, water utilities, storm sewers, parks, rights of ways, and City facilities, perform necessary maintenance, repairs, landscaping, mowing, and other assigned duties. 6. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. 7. Work cooperatively with other employees. 8. Performs other related duties as required

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio driver's license.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Graduate or GED
