The Operations Planner will play a critical role in building the company's foundational processes, including production scheduling, purchasing, and logistics. This position requires a flexible professional capable of managing a variety of responsibilities in an evolving environment, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Key Responsibilities Production Scheduling Review customer sale orders to ensure accurate product cycle planning and coordination with the engineering team. Coordinate product design, manufacturing drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) with the engineering team to ensure products are designed and fabricated as per client specifications. Enter product BOM and associated costs into the ERP system. Purchasing Send out requests for quotes to suppliers and ensure timely and accurate responses. Create and issue supplier purchase orders for necessary materials and components. Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials and resolve any potential supply chain issues. Assist sales and quoting teams in setting appropriate product sell prices, ensuring profitability and competitive pricing. Logistics Assist in the packing and shipping of orders to meet delivery schedules. Coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely and efficient transportation. Collaborate with external logistics providers to optimize shipping routes, costs, and delivery timelines. Collaboration & Cooperation Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that product designs and specifications align with manufacturing and procurement requirements. Participate in regular meetings to discuss operational updates, production schedules, and any potential issues that need resolution. Maintain open communication channels with suppliers to ensure that all parties are aligned on delivery schedules and product specifications.
Qualifications Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred). 2-3 years of experience in production scheduling, purchasing, and logistics, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment. Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly in entering BOM data, managing purchase orders, and coordinating logistics operations. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, sales, suppliers, and carriers to meet operational goals. Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records in a dynamic, evolving environment. Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Occasional involvement in the physical handling of materials or coordination of packing and shipping processes to ensure orders meet delivery schedules. May require light physical activity, such as lifting boxes or overseeing the packaging of shipments. Ability to stand for extended periods when overseeing the packing and shipping process or collaborating in the warehouse. Manual dexterity required for handling documentation, managing paperwork, and organizing shipping details effectively. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when handling parts, shipping materials, or overseeing warehouse activities. Ability to work in a noisy, industrial environment when occasionally on the manufacturing floor due to machinery and equipment in use. Keen attention to detail in identifying quality issues or discrepancies in inventory, parts, or shipping materials. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, occasionally under tight deadlines to meet production and shipping schedules. The role primarily involves desk work but may require occasional movement within the warehouse or manufacturing areas to monitor logistics and ensure timelines are met. Travel Requirements Occasional travel may be required to attend planning sessions, staff events, or training in Winnipeg, Minneapolis, or other locations as needed. Travel requirements are estimated to be minimal (less than 10% of the role), with advance notice provided.
