Cost Analyst Job Overview:
Delta Scientific Corporation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Assistant / Cost Analyst to support our Engineering Department. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, understands manufacturing and materials, and is interested in growing their knowledge of engineering, purchasing, costing, and production. The ideal candidate does not need to be an engineer but should have some familiarity with steel, metal products, manufacturing, fabrication, purchasing, estimating, or material costing. We are looking for someone who is organized, good with numbers, comfortable working with data, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Engineering Manager and Engineering Department with day-to-day projects and documentation. Track and analyze material costs, including steel, stainless steel, tubing, plate, pipe, structural shapes, and other manufacturing materials. Review historical and current material pricing to identify cost increases and trends. Prepare clear reports for management showing material cost changes, percentage increases, vendor comparisons, and potential impact on product costs. Assist with BOM (Bill of Materials) review, costing, and material quantity verification. Compare vendor quotes and purchasing information to help identify cost-saving opportunities. Assist with maintaining and organizing engineering and job information. Work with Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Production, and other departments to gather accurate information. Assist with tracking Engineering projects, assignments, due dates, and job status. Perform research on materials, components, vendors, and manufacturing processes as needed. Help identify discrepancies in quantities, pricing, BOMs, or other job information before they become costly errors. Create Excel spreadsheets, charts, and summaries for Engineering and management.
Qualifications:
Strong math and analytical skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Comfortable working with numbers, percentages, pricing, and large amounts of data. Basic knowledge of steel, metals, manufacturing, fabrication, purchasing, or estimating is strongly preferred. Ability to understand measurements, material sizes, weights, and quantities. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities. Willingness to learn Delta Scientific's products and manufacturing processes. Microsoft Access experience is a plus. Purchasing, estimating, costing, or manufacturing experience is a plus. A successful Engineering Assistant could develop into a larger Engineering Cost Analyst, Manufacturing Analyst, Estimator, or Engineering Support role as their knowledge and responsibilities increase. Delta Scientific Corporation designs and manufactures high-security vehicle access control equipment and barrier systems. Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00/hr,
DOE Pay:
