Experience 2 - 4 years Save Job LinkedIn Copy URL Email Facebook About La Veta Trails La Veta Trails connects people with the trails, landscapes, and natural and cultural resources of the Spanish Peaks region through stewardship, restoration, and education, inspiring a deeper understanding, meaningful relationships, and a lasting commitment to caring for these places for generations to come. LVT has grown from a community trail organization into a regional stewardship organization. Through volunteer stewardship, ecological restoration, and environmental education, we create opportunities for people to connect with and care for the places that make this region special. The Opportunity LVT is seeking an experienced, mission-driven nonprofit leader to serve as Executive Director and help shape the organization's next chapter. The Executive Director will lead a small, growing rural nonprofit while building the financial and organizational capacity needed to expand LVT's impact. Fundraising and resource development are central to the role, along with organizational leadership, program development, partnership building, volunteer engagement, and community outreach. This is a hands-on position. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board, volunteers, partners, and community members to move projects forward and represent LVT throughout the Spanish Peaks region. We are looking for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and action—someone who can build relationships, raise resources, manage a budget, support programs, and roll up their sleeves when the work calls for it. Most importantly, we are looking for a leader who cares deeply about this place and is inspired by the opportunity to connect people with the land and help cultivate a culture of stewardship in the Spanish Peaks region. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will bring: Experience with fundraising, grant writing, donor development, or nonprofit resource development. Experience with nonprofit leadership, organizational management, program leadership, or related responsibilities. Strong financial, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. The ability to work effectively with a Board, volunteers, partners, and community members. Initiative, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a small organization. A genuine interest in trails, public lands, conservation, stewardship, education, and the natural and cultural resources of the Spanish Peaks region. Willingness to participate in occasional evening, weekend, and outdoor activities. Experience with conservation, trails, parks, outdoor recreation, ecological restoration, environmental education, public lands, rural communities, or community-based nonprofits is valuable. Knowledge of the Spanish Peaks region is welcome, but we also encourage candidates eager to become deeply connected to the region and its communities. You do not need to check every box. We are interested in people who bring strong relationships, curiosity, initiative, and a genuine commitment to LVT's mission. Compensation & Benefits 25-30 hours per week. Hours will be increased based on funding. $28-$40/hour, depending on experience and qualifications Potential for increased hours as funding permits Mileage reimbursement Professional development opportunities Paid leave in accordance with LVT policy Flexible schedule appropriate to organizational and community needs
