Job Description

Becoming the Executive Director of Haven of the Ozarks, Inc. will allow you to make a difference in the lives of people and pets in Southwest Missouri. This small non-profit organization needs a motivated individual who can maintain and build on Haven of the Ozarks, Inc. mission with the willingness to take on new challenges. Serving as the Executive Director allows you to oversee operations, financial objectives, technical support, volunteer resources, and lead the program with communication and advocacy through fundraising.
Responsibilities:
In program development and administration, the Executive Director will: 1. Manage the operation, staff, facilities, grounds, volunteers, and programs of the shelter. 2. Develop and administer personnel policies related to supervision and scheduling of staff. 3. Assess operations and make recommendations to the Board to implement improvements when needed. 4. Ensure the health, safety, and care of all animals, and people who are in contact with them. 5. Continually secure and cultivate funding through event planning and execution, small businesses, corporate sponsorships, grant writing, and other means to finance the operations of Haven of the Ozarks, Inc. 6. Conduct meetings with staff to discuss issues, share ideas, review placement decisions and other animal related concerns. Promote efficiency for animal care and administration to encourage healthier, happier animals, making them more adoptable. 7. Work with staff to recruit new volunteers to serve the organization and become future leaders and board members. 8. Provide good leadership that encourages respectful relationships. 9. Ensure all organization records and compliance are properly maintained. 10.Develop and maintain a public relations program to ensure our social media and website reflects current and consistent information. Prepare monthly newsletter and other communications needed to promote Haven adoptions, programs, and events. 11.Prepare the annual operating budget with the assistance of the Board Chair and Treasurer. 12.Perform inspections of shelter property for needed repairs and maintenance, safety compliance and cleanliness. 13.Perform inspections of animals to ensure proper care is being administered. 14. Respond to and resolve sensitive inquiries and complaints. 15.Meet and greet the public in a professional manner and respond to answers and requests. 16.Oversee budget, accounts receivables and payables and ordering and purchasing of supplies. 17.Perform monthly reporting to Board of Directors. Make recommendations to the Board on staffing needs, job descriptions, policies and procedures, and shelter improvements.
Knowledge and Skills:
General knowledge of and deep love for animals. Good cognitive, public relations, and communication skills. Excellent writing, spelling and proper grammar. Budgetary experience. Be a leader and a team player. Good computer skills. Ability to multi-task. Handle stress.
Experience required:
Minimum one year in a management role. Non-profit, event planning, fundraising and/or grant writing experience. Animal Shelter experience a plus.
License/Certification:
Valid driver's license with no chargeable violations.
Pay:
$52,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
