Job Description

Title:
Nonprofit Bookeeper Position:
Full-time Reports to:
CFO Core Responsibilities Financial Recordkeeping:
Record donations, ticket sales, membership dues, expenses, and reimbursements into the accounting system. Maintain accurate accounts of assets, liabilities, and fund balances, ensuring donor restrictions are properly tracked.
Banking and Transactions:
Make deposits, pay bills, and manage accounts receivable and payable. Ensure multi-channel revenue (online donations, events, recurring gifts) is accurately recorded.
Payroll and Benefits:
Enter timesheets, assist with payroll, maintain payroll records, and assist with employee benefits.
Budgeting and Reporting:
Track actuals against budgets by program and fund and flag variances.
Grant and Compliance Management:
Monitor restricted grants and track spending against budgets. Support Form 990 preparation.
Audit Preparation:
Assist with audits.
Administrative Support:
Maintain donor records, volunteer hours, client assistance files, and other organizational records. Assist with ad hoc financial reports and special projects as requested by CFO, CEO or Board of Directors. Required Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting. Proficiency in QuickBooks , Excel, and donor management software. Excellent organizational skills , attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to assist with financial statements , budgets, and reports for board oversight. Strong communication skills to interact with staff, donors, and board members. Experience with grant tracking, payroll, and compliance reporting .
Preferred:
Associate's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent nonprofit experience . Additional Attributes Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Patience, resourcefulness, and flexibility in handling diverse financial tasks. Commitment to the nonprofit's mission and values, especially when interacting with donors and stakeholders. This role is essential for ensuring financial transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency in a nonprofit, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic decision-making by leadership and the board.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
