Job Description

Scope of Work:
The Executive Director (ED) provides leadership to the Board of Directors and has overall strategic and operational responsibility for YMS staff, programs, and execution of its mission.
Essential Duties:
(.25 FTE)
  • Responsible for daily program operations
  • Recruits, interviews and recommends for hiring of educational staff as required by grants
  • Provides regular and ongoing supervision of staff and volunteers
  • Approve staff time and attendance; monitors staff and attendance sheets
  • Develops on-going training for educational staff so programming is relevant and timely
  • Provides effective coaching and teambuilding to ensure that employees and volunteers perform at maximum capability
  • Evaluates staff to ensure progress as it pertains to participant assets
  • Recruit, train, and monitor volunteers in serving youth throughout Niagara County
  • Office Management
  • Establish and maintain a safe and productive work environment, including facilities and culture
  • Lead the Board in initiating and development of strategic plan (including setting priorities, reviewing the mission, purpose, and direction, establishing long-term goals and measureable outcomes) and assessment of plan objectives
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Board of Directors (.25 FTE)
  • Establishes priorities regarding delivery of service in accordance with participants' needs and YMS mission and purpose
  • Develops tools to measure participant status/growth
  • Oversees the programming to ensure alignment with YMS mission and grant parameters
  • Coordinates the collection of data, monitors trends, and completes reports that reflect impact
  • Evaluates on an on-going basis to determine needed program adjustments
  • Prepares and oversees program monitoring visits and audits from funders
  • Leads in planning and recruitment of participants under the eligibility requirements and specifics of the program
  • Special Projects - Backpack, summer program, camping, etc. (.25 FTE)
  • Interacts with employees, parents, general public
  • Advocate for and implement initiatives which create a positive impact with in-risk youth in Niagara County
  • Empower youth to advocate for initiatives that address improved access and utilization of community resources
  • Establish and maintain productive partnerships with community-based organizations, agencies and funders across Niagara County
  • Act as liaison between agency and community organizations, media, vendors, and donors
  • Attend local and regional meetings and conferences as they pertain to program enhancement, recruitment and staff development
  • Participates in internal and external agency committees
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations plan, including presentations
  • Acts as the main contact for incoming and outgoing communications for all business requests
  • Prepares written correspondence, memorandums, reports, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of the agenda for Board of Directors meetings
  • Provide the Board with monthly reports including activities/short and long term outcomes as well as budget and financial reports
  • Provides orientation for new Board members (.25 FTE)
  • Managing the Grant Application process, including the review, approval, and submission of 10-15 applications per year
  • Grant Management - review financials and complete mandated reports
  • Oversee the Annual Golf Tournament and other fundraising efforts
  • Create budgets and manage the responsible expenditure of funding
  • Achieve targeted levels of new and renewed funding via grants and annual campaigns Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics ü Good knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of office activities, including methods and procedures ü Good knowledge of the administrative policies and procedures of the Board of Directors ü Performs duties on a personal computer using application programs ü Ability to prepare accurate and concise correspondence, reports and memorandum ü Ability to work with Board of Directors, employees, volunteers, and community agencies ü Ability to independently complete daily and/or recurring administrative tasks ü Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing ü Ability to understand and carry out multiple complex activities ü Leadership; integrity; resourcefulness; confidentiality
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Human Services field with at least five (5) years of experience or equivalent in non-profit management Self-motivated, with excellent organizational management skills and ability to achieve strategic initiatives Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience in managing and forecasting budgets Past success working with Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing Board member relationships Strong fundraising and marketing experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds Experience with recruiting and managing volunteers Fiscal Accountability in creating a budget and developing resources to pay for initiatives Ability to build and maintain a collaborative network Stewardship in maintaining buildings, grounds, and financial reserves
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Master's degree Public Speaking experience
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
