Job Description

Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Operations Research Department of Operations Research Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA The Department of Operations Research (OR) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) seeks applications for one full-time, non-tenure track, Senior Lecturer / Lecturer position in the Operations Research Department. The Department has particular interest in candidates with expertise in any of the areas related to Operations Research including probability and statistics, data analysis, modeling and simulation, military logistics, and naval tactical analysis. A successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in OR that are appropriate for their background and experience and advise students performing applied research on national security challenges. The Department of Operations Research at NPS in Monterey, California is one of the oldest and largest OR departments in the world. Our students are primarily military officers from the U.S. and its allies pursuing master's degrees in defense-oriented OR topics. We also have a small Ph.D. program. Our students are capable, mature, and hard-working. The department has over 40 faculty members, with 21 tenure-track professors, who do research in a wide range of fields including data science, statistics, optimization, stochastic modeling, and simulation. Our research addresses important and challenging problems in national security, and we foster close collaborations with U.S. Navy and Department of Defense sponsors, as well as other universities. Minimum Qualifications:
A graduate degree in Operations Research, Statistics, or Data Science; Broad experience (typically more than 3 years) as a faculty member in an accredited institution of higher education; Evidence of excellent teaching; and A reputation for expertise in Operations Research or National Security Data Analysis in the Department of Defense Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Education Statement:
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
