Job Description

Regional Director of Operations - Pool Renovations We are seeking a highly experienced Regional Director of Operations to oversee our Project Management team and field operations across our growing pool renovation company. This is a senior-level, hands-on leadership position responsible for developing our Project Managers, maintaining consistent operational standards, resolving escalated renovation issues, and providing operational coverage as the company grows. All significant project-management and renovation issues will ultimately flow through this position. This individual will be responsible for supporting and training Project Managers, solving difficult field and customer issues, improving our project-management systems, and maintaining high standards for quality, communication, and accountability. A major responsibility of this position is also operational coverage and continuity . The Regional Director of Operations will serve as the company's first line of backup when Project Management staffing changes occur , whether planned or unexpected. This may include vacations, extended absences, employee turnover, terminations, new hires, or expansion into new territories. Our current territory extends from Hillsborough County through Lee County , so this position requires significant driving and regular field presence throughout Southwest Florida and the Tampa Bay area. We are looking for an experienced swimming pool or construction professional who can lead people, solve problems, step into projects when necessary, and build a stronger Project Management organization. Primary Responsibilities Directly oversee, support, train, and develop the company's Project Managers Serve as the primary escalation point for significant renovation, construction, customer, subcontractor, and Project Management issues Maintain regular field presence and travel throughout the company's service territory Train and coach Project Managers to improve construction knowledge, organization, communication, decision-making, and overall performance Establish and maintain consistent Project Management standards across all territories Identify recurring operational problems and develop training, processes, and systems to prevent them Review Project Manager performance and maintain accountability to company expectations Assist with difficult customer situations and determine appropriate resolutions Monitor project quality and ensure company standards are consistently maintained Work with subcontractors and internal teams to resolve scheduling, quality, and production issues Onboard and train new Project Managers as the company expands Improve Project Management processes, checklists, training materials, and accountability systems Ensure Project Managers maintain proactive customer communication and accurate project documentation Operational Coverage & Continuity Serve as the first line of backup for Project Managers during vacations, illness, extended leave, turnover, termination, or other staffing gaps Temporarily assume responsibility for active projects when a Project Manager is unexpectedly unavailable Step into a territory when necessary to ensure customers, subcontractors, and projects continue to be managed without interruption Provide temporary field management while replacement employees are recruited and trained Help transition projects from departing Project Managers to new team members Provide additional Project Management capacity during periods of unusually high volume Assist with launching new territories by providing temporary operational leadership until permanent staffing is established Maintain enough familiarity with projects and team operations to step in quickly when coverage is needed Qualifications Significant experience in swimming pool construction, pool renovation, or a closely related construction field required Previous experience managing Project Managers, Superintendents, Construction Managers, or field operations strongly preferred Strong understanding of pool renovation/construction sequencing, subcontractor management, scheduling, quality control, and customer communication Strong leadership, coaching, and employee-development skills Ability to personally step into Project Management responsibilities when necessary Comfortable taking ownership of difficult or unfamiliar situations Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills Highly organized and capable of overseeing multiple Project Managers and projects Professional communication skills with homeowners, employees, and subcontractors Ability to identify operational weaknesses and implement practical solutions Valid driver's license and clean driving record Must be comfortable with significant driving throughout the territory from Hillsborough County through Lee County Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has spent years in pool construction, pool renovation, or residential construction operations and has progressed from personally managing projects into leading and developing other Project Managers. This person needs to be a leader, teacher, problem solver, and utility player . They should be equally comfortable coaching a Project Manager, inspecting a jobsite, handling a difficult customer situation, solving a construction problem, or temporarily taking over a group of active projects. We are looking for someone who creates stability within the operation. When a Project Manager is unavailable or leaves the company, projects should continue moving forward without creating an operational emergency. This is not an office-only management position. It requires regular field involvement, significant driving, hands-on problem-solving, employee development, and the ability to step directly into operations when needed. What Success Looks Like Success in this position means: Project Managers become stronger and increasingly independent Fewer operational issues need to reach ownership Problems are identified and resolved quickly Customers receive consistent communication regardless of territory or staffing changes Project quality and accountability continue to improve Employee turnover or absences do not create major operational disruptions New Project Managers are trained and brought up to speed quickly New territories can be launched without overwhelming existing management The company has dependable operational coverage as it continues to grow This is a senior leadership position with compensation appropriate for an experienced operations professional capable of leading people, managing complex renovation projects, providing operational coverage, and traveling throughout a large geographic territory.
