Salary Range:

$113,304 - $158,625

Full-Time Non-Union (Opens in new window) About the Role The Village of Glencoe has a full-service Public Works Department with responsibilities for a wide range of municipal infrastructure and broad resident-focused programming that depends on innovative and forward-thinking staff, As a Public Works Supervisor, you'll plan and direct daily operations while supervising Maintenance Equipment Operators and/or Mechanics. You'll assign and prioritize work, coach employees, oversee safety practices, coordinate contractors and vendors, and respond to service requests from residents and businesses. You'll also play an important role during after-hours emergencies, including water main breaks, sewer backups, severe weather, and snow and ice operations. Supervisors participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule. Responsibilities at a Glance Lead, schedule, and prioritize daily Public Works operations and maintenance activities Supervise crews, assign work, evaluate performance, and provide coaching and direction Coordinate responses to resident service requests and communicate with residents and businesses Direct field operations during emergencies, including water main breaks, sewer backups, severe weather, and snow and ice events Promote safe work practices through training, job-site monitoring, and enforcement of safety procedures Manage contractors, vendors, equipment, materials, and supplies Support hiring, onboarding, budgeting, capital planning, special events, and other Village operations Oversee work in one or more operational areas, including water distribution, sewers, streets and sidewalks, forestry, parkways, and fleet Learn more about the position, including the required knowledge, skills, abilities, and working conditions here (Opens in new window) .
