Driver Fleet Manager - Trucking Operations Smith Trucking is hiring an experienced Driver Fleet Manager for our Worthington, Minnesota office. This person will serve as the primary point of contact for approximately 35-45 professional truck drivers. Much of the day is spent communicating with drivers by phone and message, answering questions, handling changing situations, and helping keep freight moving. Previous professional trucking-industry experience is required. Applicants must have experience as a truck driver, dispatcher, fleet manager, or in a similar trucking operations position. Responsibilities Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for an assigned fleet of approximately 35-45 drivers Communicate with drivers by phone, text, and electronic messaging Assist with load assignments, appointments, directions, and time-off requests Respond to driver questions and help resolve problems that arise while drivers are on the road Communicate with other members of the operations team to keep drivers and freight moving Maintain accurate notes and documentation Remain calm and professional while handling time-sensitive or difficult situations Apply basic DOT knowledge when assisting drivers Required Qualifications Previous professional trucking-industry experience as a driver, dispatcher, fleet manager, or in a similar operations role Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Good organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities Patience and professionalism when handling difficult situations Working knowledge of United States geography Basic understanding of DOT regulations Comfortable using computers, email, messaging systems, and learning company software Applicants without previous professional trucking-industry experience will not be considered. Schedule Full-time, onsite position in Worthington, Minnesota Monday through Friday, approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Approximately one Saturday morning per month Weekend on-call responsibilities after training Compensation Annual salary of $45,000-$65,000, based on relevant trucking-industry experience and qualifications.
