CDL A Operations SupervisorAbout Gaines Oil Company Position Summary Gaines Oil Company is seeking a CDL A Operations Supervisor to lead our Tank Loaner and Transportation Operations programs. This position combines driver leadership, equipment coordination, customer service, logistics, fleet support, and field operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys solving problems, supporting drivers, coordinating equipment and resources, and ensuring safe, efficient operations. This role serves as a key member of the Transportation Department, supporting daily transportation activities, fleet maintenance coordination, compliance initiatives, dispatch operations, facility oversight, and the management of our Tank Loaner Program. Key Responsibilities Transportation & Operations Leadership Support daily Transportation Department operations and assist the Transportation Manager as needed. Serve as a leadership resource and secondary point of contact for drivers and transportation personnel. Assist with dispatch coverage, route coordination, scheduling, and driver support. Coordinate communication between drivers, dispatch, operations, customers, and management. Support transportation reporting, departmental projects, onboarding, and training initiatives. Tank Loaner Program Management Oversee the daily operations of the Tank Loaner Program. Coordinate the delivery, installation, relocation, maintenance, and retrieval of fuel tanks and related equipment. Maintain inventory and records for tanks, pumps, hoses, fittings, and accessories. Ensure equipment is properly inspected, maintained, and available for operational and customer needs. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues as they arise. Fleet Maintenance & Compliance Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair schedules for fleet vehicles and equipment. Monitor vehicle inspections, maintenance records, and repair documentation. Support compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and applicable state and federal regulations. Assist with accident investigations, corrective actions, and safety initiatives. Help ensure fleet readiness and operational efficiency. Bulk Plant & Facility Operations Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the Bulk Plant and Transportation Facilities. Conduct routine inspections of facilities, grounds, storage areas, and equipment. Coordinate facility maintenance and repair activities. Monitor safety equipment, containment systems, signage, and housekeeping standards. Assist with inventory management of transportation and operational supplies. Ensure compliance with company, environmental, and safety standards. QualificationsEducation & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years of transportation, logistics, fuel delivery, fleet operations, or related experience. Previous supervisory, lead, or coordinator experience preferred. Experience in petroleum, transportation, logistics, or industrial operations preferred. Licensing & Certifications Valid CDL Class A License required. Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements required. Ability to meet company driving and insurability requirements. Skills & Abilities Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work independently and lead operational activities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems. Strong customer service and team-building skills. Fluent in English. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 70 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and reach. Ability to work around transportation equipment, fuel tanks, and industrial environments. Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities to perform job duties safely. Work Environment Combination of office, shop, yard, and field environments. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise levels. Fast-paced, safety-focused operational setting. Occasional after-hours, weekend, and emergency response work may be required.
