Job Description

Lead a Team That Keeps Students Moving Safely ABC Transit Inc. is looking for an experienced, organized, and people-focused Terminal Manager to lead the daily operations of one of our school bus terminals. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the students, families, school districts, and communities we serve. You'll lead a dedicated team of drivers and staff while overseeing safety, service, staffing, dispatch, maintenance coordination, and the overall performance of the terminal. The ideal candidate is a confident leader who communicates clearly, handles challenges calmly, and enjoys building a strong, reliable team. This position reports directly to the President and Vice President of ABC Transit Inc. What You'll Do Lead the terminal's day-to-day operations and ensure safe, reliable, and on-time transportation. Support, motivate, and manage full-time staff, part-time drivers, and other terminal employees. Oversee driver recruitment and retention efforts to maintain dependable route coverage. Coordinate daily routes, trips, and extracurricular transportation. Communicate professionally with drivers, families, school district personnel, and company leadership. Conduct employee evaluations and address performance or disciplinary matters in coordination with company leadership. Ensure driver credentials, clearances, certifications, and physical examinations remain current. Make sure drivers and staff receive all required training. Work with safety and training personnel to plan driver safety meetings. Maintain accurate records and submit required reports and paperwork on time. Oversee the timely submission of payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and month-end information. Review monthly financial reports and help manage the terminal's profitability. Understand and carry out the requirements of school district contracts and facility leases. Identify safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions to routing and operational challenges. Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable state and federal regulations. Participate in budgeting and annual financial planning for the facility. Help develop charter and school-related business during weekends, non-school days, and summer months. Attend meetings as needed. Drive a school bus occasionally when operationally necessary. Perform other leadership duties assigned by company leadership. What We're Looking For At least five years of experience in school bus operations. At least two years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A two- or four-year degree in business or a related field is preferred but not required. A valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements. A current Driver's Physical Examination. Strong leadership skills with the ability to organize, motivate, and hold employees accountable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities. Confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. Working knowledge of applicable state and federal transportation regulations. Proficiency with computers and common business software.
