The Big Rock director of operations is responsible for overseeing the company's daily function and ensuring that operational activities align with strategic business goals to maximize efficiency, productivity and profitability. This includes managing project managers and crews, optimizing scheduling and resource allocation, ensuring quality control and safety compliance, and handling budgets, procurement, and equipment maintenance. The role requires a strategic leader with operational management expertise, strong financial acumen, and excellent team leadership skills.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with leadership on budget creation and management, monitor production costs, and ensure accurate job costing to maximize revenue. Analyze performance metrics and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and profitability. Determine resource shortfalls and develop suitable budget friendly substitution requirements with Project Managers. Maintain clear communication across departments and with field personnel. Prepare and present reports on operations, financial status, and performance. Oversee project managers and field crews, manage scheduling, and ensure efficient crew deployment and resource allocation to meet project deadlines and objectives. Track safety incidents metrics and apply findings to restrict future incidents. Manage vendor relationships and oversee the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment. Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and company standards, enforce quality control measures, and maintain a high regard for the safety of employees and the public. Oversee the preventative maintenance plan for all company equipment to ensure operational readiness. Lead, train, and develop staff. Conduct performance evaluations and foster a productive and positive work environment. Continue to develop current business and strive to develop new business opportunities. Ensure employees follow all policies and procedures. Other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be proficient in Outlook Must be proficient in Word Must be proficient in Excel Must have reliable transportation, follow attendance policy and be ready to work at their designated start time. Must pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug-free status. Must be able to work with limited supervision.
Education and Experience:
High school or equivalent, technical school or college experience. Strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team. Experience with budget management, financial reporting, and job costing. A solutions-focused mindset to proactively identify and resolve issues. Must have five (5) years' minimum management experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, sit, and kneel for long periods of time. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain in order to access equipment, tools, materials, and jobsite in order to complete work. Position may require frequent walking throughout the jobsite. Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease, and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment. Working at heights will vary, as well as working with various pieces of equipment that will provide protection at such heights, scaffolds, aerial man lifts, and personal fall protection. Must be able to lift 50lbs from your waist to your shoulders. Must be able to lift 50lbs from the floor to your head. Must be able to push 80lbs and pull 100lbs. Must be able to make repetitive motions with all limbs. Must be able to move two or more limbs together. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to work the hours necessary in order to achieve the goals of the company.
