We are committed to providing safe, reliable, efficient, and high-quality utility services while planning responsibly for the community's future. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Water & Sewer Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Utility's water and wastewater systems. This position offers an opportunity to play a key leadership role in a community experiencing growth and infrastructure investment. Position Overview The Water & Sewer Manager is responsible for the overall management, operation, maintenance, and long-term planning of Waunakee Utilities' water and wastewater systems. The position provides leadership to water and sewer operations staff and is responsible for ensuring that the Utility's facilities and infrastructure are operated safely, efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. This position will work closely with the General Manager, Utility Commission, employees, engineers, developers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the community. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will combine technical utility knowledge, strong leadership abilities, problem solving skills, and a customer-service mindset.
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in SCADA systems and GIS technology, alongside a solid understanding of Wisconsin DNR regulations.
Leadership Abilities:
Strong communication skills, including ability to listen and understand various stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Sound judgement and the ability to diagnose operational issues and implement creative solutions.
Customer-Service Mindset:
Trouble shoots customer issues with a positive demeanor while providing customer with confidence that issue will be solved in an efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, required; an associate degree in related field is preferred.
Experience:
Five to ten years of related experience with three to five of those years holding a supervisory position.
Certifications:
Must possess a valid Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Distribution Certification, or ability to obtain within one year of hiring.
Driver's License:
Valid motor vehicle operator's license is required, must obtain a commercial driver's license within six months of employment, and excellent driving record.
