Job Description

Midstate is looking for an individual to join our team as a shipping crate builder. Must be able to work with other team members in a fast paced environment. Constant monitoring of a safe working environment is a must. Candidates need to have basic woodworking skills and previous use of power tools is a plus. Candidates should also exhibit basic mathematical abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fabricate wooden shipping crates per the specified dimensions of our customer orders and complete assembly for safe transport of customer products. Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on work orders, blue prints and cut lists. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow all company safety policies Identify safety issues in work area, and notice equipment malfunctions Proper use of woodworking equipment, hand and power tools involved in fabricating custom shipping containers. Cut wood with various power saws. Operates power tools daily. Safely operate fork truck Assemble wood boxes/crates/pallets using screws, nail guns, and various hand tools Ensures board cuts are efficient to limit company waste. Perform basic visual quality inspections on products. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor Perform repetitive tasks while ensuring that the crates are being built at an efficient pace Cleaning of workspace/ Emptying trash bins Additional warehouse maintenance Other duties as required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Work well with a team and be able to take instruction from team leads. Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Must be able to accurately read a tape measure. Must be able to maneuver crating lumber with little to no assistance Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs alone - up to 120lbs with a partner. Continue to progress each week in speed and understanding.
