SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Packages bottle manually at standard rate on assigned line(s). Performs basic quality control checks including measuring, weighing, strength testing, package counts, and evaluating product appearance. May be required to tape, unitize cartons, fold box, applies labels, and stacks boxes on pallets. Responsible for general housekeeping. Assisting in scrap removal and grinding. Required to pack either blank or decorated bottles.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities Performs finishing operations as directed and assigned on a variety of product. Such operations include packaging, assembly, rework, inspection, weighing, recording finished production. Work under direct supervision. Packs cartons with empty plastic bottles at a standard rate. Twists, bends and lifts every carton. This requires wrist and arm movements. Uses simple measuring instruments such as a ruler, scale or gages to check work. General arithmetic knowledge is necessary to understand how to use these tools. Monitors product for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator. Loads conveyors and flamers. Practices housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary. Removes scrap from around the line. Grind and pull plastic as needed. Makes and unitizes cartons as assigned. Initials and dates box labels. Makes out unit tickets. Does any other work as assigned by the Supervisor. Requirements Ability to work with 18- 30 lbs. per carton. Possibly packs 100 to 250 cartons in an 8-hour shift. May have to lift carton off the horse onto floor. Twists, bends and lifts every carton. Promotes a safe working environment. Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times within the facility

Must be dependable, have a good attendance record and be able to understand bottle specifications to assure proper bottle inspection
