Utilizing panel saws, chop saws, impact drivers, and pneumatic tools, this position executes custom crate construction and corrugated box engineering strictly aligned with our packaging standards. Secondary operational duties include executing local customer pickups, white-glove deliveries, and hands-on facility setup projects to ensure full operational readiness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Custom Crating & Box Building:

Safely operate power tools and shop machinery, including table saws, pneumatic nail guns, and heavy-duty staplers, to measure, cut, and assemble custom wooden crates, slat crates, skids, and corrugated containers.

Packaging & Cushioning Execution:

Package, wrap, and cushion fragile, large, awkward, and valuable (FLAV) items (fine art, antiques, electronics, machinery) following standard packaging procedures. Utilize appropriate interior blocking, bracing, bubble wrap, and double-boxing techniques.

Freight Staging & Palletizing:

Band, stretch-wrap, and palletize freight to carrier specifications. Affix required shipping labels, BOL documentation, and Navis "Handle with Care" brand markings to all completed shipments.

Equipment & Tool Maintenance:

Maintain all shop machinery and pneumatic tools in optimal working condition; perform daily safety inspections, drain compressors, and lubricate nailers/staplers as required. Safely operate pallet jacks, dollies, and forklifts (if certified).

Pickup & Delivery Support:

Assist with on-site customer pickups and deliveries, ensuring proper item inventory tagging, condition documentation on standard forms, and secure blanket-wrapping/tie-down loading in the company vehicle. Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Facility Maintenance & Compliance:

Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free warehouse adhering to OSHA safety standards and Navis operational guidelines. Assist in tracking inventory levels for lumber, foam, corrugated sheets, and hardware.

Startup Facility Setup & Adaptability:

Periodically perform tasks outside standard packaging and crating duties to support the initial launch, build-out, and continuous operational readiness of a new facility. This includes assembling/installing storage shelving, light painting or wall repairs, and deep cleaning (breakroom, restrooms, office).

Qualifications:
Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience in custom crating, carpentry, framing, cabinet making, or industrial packaging/warehouse material handling strongly preferred. Applicant must possess basic math skills.

Machinery & Tools:

Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in the safe operation of power saws (miter/table saws), pneumatic nail guns, staple guns, and standard hand tools.

Packaging Knowledge:

Prior experience with foam cushioning, carton construction, palletizing, or fragile item packing preferred.

Safety & Compliance:

Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including full-foot protective footwear and eye protection while operating tools. Minimum age of 18 (required for machinery and commercial vehicle operations under company standards).
