Job Description

Packing and Shipping Specialist Zolven Newark, NJ Job Details Part-time | Full-time $25.01 - $30.12 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account Tuition reimbursement Paid time off Employee assistance program 401(k) matching Employee discount Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Computer operation Packing Moving High school diploma or GED Stocking Picking & packing Full Job Description Job Summary As a Packing and Shipping Specialist , you'll be responsible for turning picked orders into packages ready to leave the building. The work starts with checking items against a ticket, then moves into boxing, cushioning, and sealing so nothing shifts in transit. Labels get printed and matched to the right box, every time. You'll weigh and measure as you go, since shipping costs depend on getting those numbers right. Volume often builds through the day, and the last hour before the truck arrives tends to be the busiest stretch. Supplies run low fast when things get hectic, so restocking boxes and tape is part of staying ahead of it. There's a rhythm to the job once you find it. Responsibilities Checking picked items against order tickets for accuracy Building boxes and packing items securely Print and apply shipping labels to outgoing packages Weighing and measuring packages for correct shipping rates Keeping the packing station stocked with tape, boxes, and fillers Scanning packages into the shipping system before they leave Setting aside damaged or mismatched items for a supervisor to review Staging completed orders near the loading dock, and pitching in when trucks need loading Qualifications Small details rarely slip past you, even when the packing line gets busy. You're able to stay on your feet through a full shift without it wearing you down. When several tasks come up at once, near shift's end especially, you manage to keep them all moving. You explain problems clearly to a supervisor rather than letting confusion pile up. Basic computer and scanning skills come easily enough that new systems don't slow you down for long. You're the kind of person who shows up on time, since the line depends on a full crew. Adjusting to a new packing method or label format doesn't throw off your pace for long. Even when the order count climbs, you stay even-tempered with the people working next to you.
