ABOUT THE POSITION
As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for all procurement activities for our growing cosmetics manufacturing and distribution business. This individual will oversee the purchasing team responsible for raw materials, corrugate, packaging components, and office administrative purchases while driving purchasing strategy, supplier performance, forecasting, cost savings, and process improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership Lead, supervise and develop the purchasing team by establishing clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations. Establish departmental goals and performance metrics Procurement Strategy Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support production requirements, inventory objectives, and company growth. Build strong supplier relationships, while evaluating supplier performance on quality, delivery, service, and cost. Lead supplier negotiations to obtain best total value, including pricing, payment terms, freight, and service agreements. Identify and qualify alternative suppliers to reduce supply chain risk. Monitor market trends and raw material availability to proactively address potential disruptions. Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQ's) as needed. Planning & Forecasting Collaborate with Production Planning, Sales, and Operations to forecast material requirements. Develop purchasing plans base don sales forecasts, inventory levels, production schedules, and supplier lead times. Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs. Improve purchasing accuracy through forecasting analysis and inventory planning. Inventory & Supply Management Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, packaging components, and indirect materials. Monitor inventory turns, aging inventory, and slow-moving materials. Partner with Warehouse and Inventory Control to improve accuracy and replenishment strategies. New Product Development Support new product launches by sourcing new raw materials, packaging components, and suppliers. Coordinate material availability to ensure successful product launches. Work cross-functionally with Product Development, Art Department, Operations and Quality through the commercialization process. Process Improvement Evaluate and improve purchasing workflows, systems, and standard operating procedures. Identify opportunities to automate manual purchasing activities. Utilize ERP data and analytics to support purchasing decisions and continuous improvement initiatives. Administrative Purchasing Oversee procurement of office supplies and other indirect purchases. Establish purchasing guidelines and approval processes to ensure cost control and compliance.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Supply Chain Management, or related field
Experience:
8+ years of proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role within the Consumer Products Industry, preferably within cosmetics or personal care. Strong supplier negotiation experience. Experience with forecasting, inventory planning, and demand management. ERP experience required. In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and supply chain management.
