Job Description

Specialist/REACH Quality Assurance Coach Temporary-Hourly (At-Will/Non-Represented) Position (approximately 20-28 hours/week) Closed/Promotional The Parks and Recreation Department oversees Parks and Programs, REACH, Senior Services, Contract Classes, Media and Communications, Special Events, Transportation, and the Pico Rivera Golf Course. The amenities provided by the Parks and Recreation Department are enjoyed by thousands of people every year. The amenities include 100 acres of parks and open spaces, swimming pool, athletic fields, walking paths, Senior Center, and batting cages. The Position Under the direction of the REACH Supervisor or designated Coordinator, the REACH Quality Assurance Coach is responsible for managing the REACH Site Coordinators on site and to ensure REACH program effectiveness and success. This position will assist in supervising cohort of four sites regarding maintenance and operations. This is a temporary position funded with State Grant funding. At the conclusion of the grant program, on June 30, 2027, this appointment will end. Work schedule coincides with the El Rancho Unified School District calendar (ERUSD is closed during school holidays, furlough days, winter, spring, and summer recesses).
Typical schedule:
Monday-Friday 1:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. (modified day Wednesday, start 12:00 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.). The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform the following essential tasks and duties: Supervise and ensure the safety of children in programs at all times. Respond to general public with concerns about REACH program and services. Provide the highest level of service in the planning, organization, and supervision of the program. Develop, plan and implement curriculum/enrichment to meet state standards and district alignment. Assist in maintenance and archival of legal documents. Assist in budget monitoring and purchasing. Effectively supervise Site Coordinators; foster a teamwork environment. Lead, coach, instruct and motivate Site Coordinators; provide clear work instruction. Train and supervise Site Coordinators on developing and implementing program-specific activities. Facilitate the delivery of the LitART Literacy Curriculum including the literacy, math, enrichment, recreational and homework support activities. Ensure use of positive classroom management and discipline techniques. Communicate regularly with school principal, teachers, parents, community and peers. Manage program logistics such as the collection of student data and attendance records. Assist the Supervisor and Coordinator with program evaluation activities. Interpret, explain and enforce departmental policies, enforce safety rules and provide quality customer service. Assist management with brainstorming, advertising and marketing strategies. Monitor, train and evaluate staff program implementation. Assist in maintaining informational program platforms (i.e. website, Google Classroom, Teams, etc.) Completes projects by coordinating with other departments, district, and stakeholders, etc. Perform related duties as assigned. Additionally, candidates must be skilled in planning and organizing, implementing curriculum and have strong classroom management; operating knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Suite and other technology necessary to effectively perform essential duties.
Candidates must:
Be at least 18 years of age; Be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs.; Have excellent written skills and ability to effectively prepare program documents; Be skilled in dealing tactfully, courteously and effectively with public officials, program participants and the general public; Have experience in maintaining a balanced budget; Be skilled in planning, organizing, curriculum development, communication, behavior management and public speaking; Be available to work varied shifts; including nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays and special events. Bilingual in English/Spanish is desired.
Experience and Education:
Experience working with children preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a public or non-profit organizational setting. Associate's Degree is required. PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold, and may often work with constant interruptions. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License throughout the course of employment. (City employees are registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles, Employee Pull Notice Program.) Proof of car insurance (to be eligible for mileage reimbursement). At time of hire, candidates must possess and maintain certification in Infant/Child/Adult CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and Community First Aid and Safety from a nationally accredited organization, such as the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Red Cross (ARC) and the Health and Safety Institute (HSI). This position requires staff to travel to different sites on a regular basis using personal vehicles. Candidates must possess and present current proof of automobile insurance at time of appointment and must be maintained throughout the course of employment in order to be eligible for mileage reimbursement in accordance with I.R.S. guidelines.
TESTING :
