This is a full-time, hands-on management position responsible for the overall organization, quality, and growth of our hockey department. The ideal candidate combines strong hockey knowledge with leadership, organization, communication, and customer-service skills. This is primarily a program management position, not a team coaching position . You will work closely with coaches and instructors, help develop and train them, observe practices and games, and occasionally participate on the ice in a training or instructional capacity. Programs You Will Oversee Youth Learn to Play Hockey Youth In-House Hockey Youth Travel Hockey Adult Learn to Play Hockey Adult Recreational Hockey Leagues Camps, clinics, tournaments, and special hockey programs Key Responsibilities Lead the day-to-day operation of Skatetown's hockey programs Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate coaches and instructors Maintain strong coaching and player-development standards Oversee youth player evaluations, team formation, and advancement Manage adult league divisions, player placement, parity, rosters, and discipline Work with captains, parents, coaches, officials, and scorekeepers to resolve issues Oversee youth travel hockey from a program and administrative standpoint Monitor program enrollment, retention, and customer satisfaction Develop new clinics, camps, leagues, and other opportunities to grow hockey participation Maintain schedules, program information, league systems, and hockey communications Maintain a visible management presence during evening and weekend hockey programming What We're Looking For Strong hockey background through playing, coaching, officiating, or hockey program experience Previous coaching experience and the ability to train and mentor other coaches Experience managing sports programs, leagues, teams, or employees preferred Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and customer-service skills Comfortable working with youth players, parents, adult players, coaches, and officials Ability to occasionally participate in on-ice instructional activities Basic computer and administrative skills Schedule This is a full-time position primarily consisting of afternoon/evening weekday hours and a Sunday daytime shift. A typical schedule may be approximately 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Sundays . Hours and days worked are subject to change based on hockey schedules, seasonal programming, special events, and business needs. Compensation $32-$36 per hour, depending on experience Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k), and annual performance bonus opportunity. Our goal is to create a complete hockey pathway where players can start in Learn to Play, progress into recreational or travel hockey, and continue playing at Skatetown for years.
