This is a Full-Time (37.5 hours), Non-Exempt Position Under the supervision of Children's Home Society of California's (CHS) Program Manager, the Program Specialist will:

• Provide technical assistance and resources to families and child care providers
• Plan, coordinate, and implement outreach activities for the R&R Program in Yuba and Sutter Counties
• Provide training and ongoing support to individuals seeking to obtain a license, newly licensed child care providers, or experienced licensed family child care providers seeking to expand their license
• Provide resources and support to help child care providers create a quality family child care home
• Provide early care and education resource services
• Develop and present workshops for parents and child care providers
• Research and distribute resources for parents and child care providers
• Provide child care referrals via telephone
• Represent CHS at designated community outreach events to inform professionals, providers, and families about CHS Child Care and Development Services
• Monitor quality assurance and ensure contract compliance
• Maintain all records in a high-quality manner and within record protection, retention, and destruction guidelines
• Adhere to all agency policies and procedures, as well as applicable contractual and governmental regulations
• Work some evening and weekend hours, as needed, to support programming for client services
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or Human Development field desired or Associate's Degree plus three (3) years of experience required
• Minimum three (3) years demonstrated curriculum instructional experience in a child development setting preferred
• Prior non-profit experience preferred
• Strong knowledge and application of developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood Programs
• Knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 5 and Title 22 desired
• Knowledge of local community resources and experience representing an organization in a professional capacity
• Excellent verbal presentation skills and ability to display professional decorum in representing the agency in the community
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of families from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to prepare and present effective written work, provide strong attention to detail, and produce error-free work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the agency staff
• Proactive self-motivator with a professional, positive, and flexible attitude
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently and be accessible during work hours, regardless of work location
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment
• Commitment to CHS's core mission and values, and an ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners
• Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Automobile, valid driver's license, good driving record, and automobile insurance
• Ability to travel via air and surface transportation, including travel between multiple offices

SALARY SCALE

Entry level pay for this position is $25.96 per hour; the full pay scale is $25.96 to $30.38 per hour. Advancement on pay scale is based on qualifications, such as experience and education, and eventual job performance.
