The Chief Programs Officer (CPO) is responsible for the direct supervision, strategic direction, fiscal oversight and operational management of La Puente's core service programs. The CPO ensures that programs effectively meet community needs using best practices, operate efficiently, and align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. This position is a leadership role requiring expertise in program oversight, team development, risk management, and community engagement. Duties and Responsibilities Supervision and Leadership La Puente Home operates 7 core service programs. Specific program supervision will be decided upon hiring this position: Adelante PALS Food Bank Network VEGI Community Shelter Crisis Prevention Street Outreach Re-Threads Free Store Oversee selected program directors, ensuring strong leadership, performance management, and professional development. Participate in La Puente's Executive Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning, execution and implementation of goals, bringing best practices into decision making while participating in agency-wide decision-making. Develop leadership pipelines, and succession planning for service program directors. Program Oversight and Strategic Vision Supervise the delivery of client services, including case management, referrals, and client advocacy. Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to shape and implement service program strategies in alignment with organizational goals and community needs. Identify opportunities for program strengthening, coordinate training plans, and implement best practices for continuous improvement. Work with program leads, data and data specialist to develop and track Key Performance Indicators for program effectiveness and to identify areas for enhancement. Collaborate with data specialist to coordinate efforts to implement, review, and maintain data integrity across all service programs. Build accountability within programs for data integrity. Operational and Risk Management Identify potential risks across operations, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Foster cross-departmental alignment to enhance collaboration, reduce redundancies, and maximize impact. Provide support and oversight to direct reports with follow-up to insure program goals are met Financial Management Coordinate closely with the Executive Director, Finance Director, and program directors to develop, monitor, and manage program budgets responsibly. Ensure financial literacy within the department by supporting program directors in budget planning and execution. Evaluate resource needs across programs, prioritize budget allocations, and recommend cost-saving strategies for efficiency. External Relations and Development Represent La Puente at public events, cultivating relationships with community partners, government agencies, and funders to support program growth and sustainability. Mediate inter-agency conflicts and foster strong community partnerships. Collaborate with the Development Office to participate in grant writing and other fundraising initiatives to support program sustainability.
Qualifications Preferences:
Financial literacy in budgeting and financial management. Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Office suites. Experience in program evaluation and performance analysis. Working fluency in Spanish is helpful.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years experience as a direct supervisor. Minimum of 3 years experience in the non-profit or social services sector. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Passion for serving and engaging with the community.
