Position Summary The Impact Coordinator is responsible for building and sustaining agency partner network capacity across the Bayou Region, comprising St. Mary, Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Grand Isle, in service of Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana's (Second Harvest Food Bank) mission to end hunger. The Coordinator manages relationships with agency partners and programs; ensures consistent implementation of best practices; monitors and enforces compliance with USDA, TEFAP, Feeding America, and Second Harvest Food Bank standards; conducts program evaluation; and recommends new programs and program directions to address communities experiencing food insecurity in the region. The Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of community food distribution programs, including USDA commodities, mobile pantries, and SNAP outreach, across the Bayou Region. The Coordinator also conducts agency monitoring visits for child hunger programs, including Kid's Cafe and Summer Feeding. This role is frontline and field-based: the Impact Coordinator is typically the first point of contact for agency partners and neighbors across the Bayou Region and serves as Second Harvest Food Bank's face in the region's nonprofit network. The position requires independent judgment, sound decision-making under time pressure, and the ability to manage competing priorities across a multi-agency, multi-program portfolio in the Bayou, including coastal and rural communities with distinct access challenges. Second Harvest Food Bank believes that each employee makes a significant contribution to the success of the organization; that contribution should not be limited by the work identified, assigned tasks, and overall responsibilities. Each employee is expected to offer their talents, expertise, and services whenever necessary to ensure the achievement of organizational goals. Accountabilities The Impact Coordinator will be the go-to expert in program delivery and evaluation across the Bayou Region. Accountabilities are organized below by function; actual weekly time allocation varies by agency count and seasonal demands (see Time Allocation Guidance). Program Management & Strategy Serve as subject matter expert for program delivery, implementation, and evaluation across St. Mary, Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Grand Isle. Work closely with the Community Impact Manager and Impact leadership to improve food access in underserved and rural areas of the Bayou Region through innovative agency programming. Implement comprehensive program strategies with a focus on rural and coastal parishes, including communities without existing grocery access or affected by land loss and storm exposure. Identify service gaps and design or recommend new or modified distribution models (e.g., mobile pantry, home delivery, disaster sites) appropriate to the Bayou Region's geography. Balance community needs with available resources; develop and adjust service strategies as conditions change (e.g., inventory constraints, agency capacity, seasonal storm risk). Assess agency partner infrastructure to determine suitability for program equipment and operations; recommend appropriate equipment/infrastructure solutions. Agency & Community Engagement Serve as the primary point of contact and customer service representative for assigned agency partners across the Bayou Region. Identify and train agencies to assist neighbors with SNAP applications and provide ongoing technical support. Conduct agency monitoring visits for Kid's Cafe and Summer Feeding sites; provide troubleshooting support to participating agencies. Conduct regular site visits to assess program needs, capacity, and compliance at agency partner locations throughout St. Mary, Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Grand Isle. Facilitate coordination among agency partners and community collaboratives; identify and empower community members as advocates in the work to end hunger. Represent Second Harvest Food Bank at community meetings, coalitions, resource fairs, and events across the Bayou Region as needed. Support planning and execution of Second Harvest Food Bank's annual agency partner conference, including agenda development, agency communications, and event logistics. Serve as liaison to local officials, law enforcement, and parish leadership when required for site access, disaster response, or agency support. Lead or support issue resolution when agency or community concerns arise, escalating to the Community Impact Manager as appropriate. SNAP Outreach & Client Services Collaborate with the Community Impact Manager and Impact leadership to integrate SNAP outreach across all distribution programs in the Bayou Region. Provide direct SNAP application assistance, redeterminations, and EBT activation support as needed across the Bayou. Distribute SNAP outreach materials to agency partners and community organizations; recruit and coordinate volunteers to expand application capacity. Respond to community SNAP inquiries by phone and in person on an ongoing (typically daily) basis. Compliance, Data & Reporting Conduct annual (or more frequent, risk-based) agency monitoring visits to ensure compliance with Second Harvest Food Bank, USDA/TEFAP, and Feeding America standards. Provide oversight and maintain tracking systems (e.g., Ceres, Agency Express, Neighbor Intake) to ensure compliance with approved budgets, grants, policies, and reporting requirements. Deliver agency training and remedial support on ordering, monthly reporting, pickups, TEFAP guidelines, and food safety. Track agency performance and outcomes across the Bayou Region; report results through impact dashboards or comparable tools. Serve as liaison between agency partners and USDA/state representatives; support successful USDA audits. Manage all programs in compliance with USDA, grant, and organizational requirements. Grant Support & Special Initiatives Support grant-funded programs by coordinating with procurement to ensure product ordering, receiving, and distribution occur within grant timelines. Match identified Bayou Region community needs with grant-funded activities; provide narratives, metrics, photographs, and outcomes for grant reporting and closeout. Provide field-level input on retail agency pairings in partnership with the Food Sourcing team. Emergency Response Impact Coordinators are designated as emergency responders and may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties, including outside of normal working hours, during a declared federal, state, or local emergency (e.g., hurricanes, flooding, storm surge, other coastal disasters). Support disaster response efforts in coordination with local Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and internal teams, including establishing temporary distribution sites and agencies across the Bayou Region. Respond to program or agency issues outside normal working hours as needed (e.g., disasters, special events). Cross-Departmental Collaboration Coordinate with Operations, Warehouse, Procurement, Finance, Transportation, Volunteer Services, Communications, and Development to support program execution, order fulfillment, and outreach. Resolve missed orders, late deliveries, and inventory discrepancies in partnership with warehouse/receiving teams at the Houma Distribution Center and main facility; proactively communicate anticipated deliveries to receiving sites. Partner with Communications and Development to promote programs, build community awareness, and support fundraising and grant initiatives.
