BFL/BBE for Timony 21st Century After-School Program, Gr. 3-6

Program Hours:

As determined by the Program Manager of Community Programs (Program Manager); appx. 2.5-3 hrs./prog. day, Mondays through Thursdays/Fri. (extra time for workshops and other duties may be required). Program planned to run tentatively from October 5th, 2026 until June 3rd, 2027, pending snow days.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified/nearly certified, team-oriented grammar school Bilingual Family Liaison (BFL) preferred/Building Based Educator (BBE); Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior successful experience as 21 st CCLC Prog. teacher/staff a plus; excellent attendance record. Familiar w/ MA Curriculum Frameworks including Common Core (Gr.3-6) & 21 st

requirements; and have ability to drive program/MPS van, e.g., for field trip(s). Successful experience working with ELs, SPED, at-risk or struggling students. Excellent organizational skills, and unwavering commitment and dedication to improving academic standards and personal development of all program students; A deep desire to work with educationally underserved student populations and their families. Ability to work under health and fitness programming condition, and to work with iPads/Chromebooks, Newcomers, Esports, and STEAM & Gr. 3-6 ELA curriculum. First Aid certification and ability to speak Spanish required for BFL and a plus for BBE. Preference given to individuals that have completed SEI endorsement. Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some qualifications.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Work w/teacher engaging and creative student activity that is inquiry-based interdisciplinary, hands-on/remote, and student-centered; ability to work with iPads/Chromebooks and to drive program/MPS van, e.g., field trips, if needed; and excellent attendance required. Support project-based &/or service learning enrichment activities for students. Administer required student SAYO-Y surveys; assist w/snack program, parent pick-up & transportation; ability to translate in Spanish needed for BFL. Attend staff meetings, field trips, workshops, & family events as planned by site coord., &/or Program Manager. Complete pre and post SAYOs and other required documents accurately and in a timely manner. Work closely w/ core content teachers to plan & execute academic interventions. Provide substitute coverage for absent staff members, including coverage for staff meetings. Maintain and submit accurate records of attendance and snacks, follow-up w/ students regarding consistent attendance, and work w/ students in health & fitness, STEAM, & ELA focused program. Communicate regularly with site coordinator, prog. mgr., & school personnel, and parents (BFL), about program and students. BFL to initiate and maintain contact with program families.
