September 2026 Job Description Y.O.U. is seeking energetic, adaptable, and creative adults age 18+ from the Greater New Bedford area to join our team as a Lead Guide! The Lead Guide should be knowledgeable about, and experienced with implementing programming for urban youth. This individual will be accountable to the OST Program Manager and be a key member of the organization's team. This person will assist in executing the operations of the organization. Duties include mentoring and leading bicycling excursions and other outdoor experiences for youth in the south end of New Bedford. Core Responsibilities Advance the mission of

tap into the wonder and curiosity of youth to seek adventure and learn naturally. Lead bicycling excursions, group games, youth athletics, field trips and other outdoor and indoor experiences for New Bedford youth. Serve as a positive role model and mentor for participants, Junior Guides, and Guides in Y.O.U. programs. Create and maintain a safe, fun, and educational environment during all Y.O.U. programs. Support the social-emotional development of youth and help them to build lifelong skills and interests. Attend and participate in meetings and training, as required. Maintain a clean, safe, and well organized program space. Maintain accurate records and statistics on all program areas including: attendance, program surveys, registrations, etc. Support the OST Program Manager in the day-to-day operations and programming of the organization. Assist other Staff members and supervise Junior Guides during indoor and outdoor experiences. Monitor bus and assist in transportation, as needed Other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to reflect organizational needs. Flexibility with schedule depending on programming. Engage and encourage Guides and Junior Guides in their learning experiences. Other Other job-related duties and responsibilities may be assigned, and/or the job description may change to reflect changing organizational needs. Required Qualifications High School graduate/ Bachelor's Degree in education, social work or related field preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Experience working with youth from various backgrounds. Well organized with good communication skills. Dependability, accountability and flexibility are essential. Interest in exploring the outdoors and bike riding. High energy, with a positive attitude, and fun loving spirit. Good judgment and risk management skills. Organizational & project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a team & with diverse populations and partners. Spanish speaking is preferred. Satisfactory response to a CORI check Salary Range Starting pay rate $20 per hour. Work Schedule School Year (September - June).

Weekdays:

3-4 hour shifts daily, approximately 2-5pm. Paid staff training will take place at the start of each programming season. Hours subject to change depending on program needs and field trip opportunities. Opportunity may be available to work additional hours for the right person.
