Position Summary The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro North is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and self-motivated STEM Director to design, implement, and lead engaging STEM programming for youth in elementary, middle school and high school. This role plays a key part in inspiring curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking through hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning. The STEM Director reports to the Senior Director of Enrichment to design, deliver and support innovative STEM programming across our locations. This includes leading paid enrichment sessions where teens can expand their STEM knowledge, apply STEM techniques through project-based learning, and engage in meaningful, hands-on experiences. This role also supports the training and curriculum development and implementation throughout all of our Clubs. This role directly supports the Club's mission by promoting confidence, skill-building, exploration, and positive relationships within a safe and inclusive environment. Key ResponsibilitiesSTEM Program Planning & Delivery Design, implement, and oversee developmentally appropriate STEM programs that encourage creativity, exploration, hands-on learning, and youth voice. Develop and lead theme-based STEM curricula for varying age groups and skill levels across multiple teen centers. Coordinate STEM programming during school-year enrichment, school vacations, and summer programs. Develop and lead specialty STEM initiatives, workshops, and enrichment series. Oversee a staff of part time employees in STEM, responsible for professional growth, staff evaluations and program development. Submit program schedules, lesson plans, and supply/material requests at least one week in advance. Track participation, engagement, and program outcomes to ensure quality and impact. Routine evaluations on program and staff Continue with the growth and development of STEM in all teen centers.

Management Staff Supervision & Development:

Recruit, train, and manage STEM program specialists. Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to promote staff growth and program excellence.

Time & Attendance Management:

Monitor and approve staff time cards and vacation requests. Ensure accurate and timely submission of attendance records in coordination with HR and payroll processes.

Budget & Revenue Tracking:

Manage program budgets, track expenses, and support fundraising and revenue goals through grants, donations, and earned income opportunities. Program Environment & Logistics Maintain organization, cleanliness, and inventory of all program materials, supplies, and equipment. Assist in decorating and organizing program spaces for seasonal events, donors, displays, and special activities. Ensure the proper storage, handling, and upkeep of resources and technology. Youth Engagement & Behavior Management Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth. Use appropriate group and individual behavior management strategies that support member success. Encourage participation and foster a safe, respectful, and positive program culture. Promote Club values of Self-Improvement, Adaptability, Positivity, Teamwork, and Discipline . Evaluation & Communication Monitor program participation, engagement, and effectiveness. Recommend modifications to better meet youth needs and interests. Communicate promptly and professionally with supervisors, colleagues, and families when appropriate. Participate in regular meetings with Enrichment Staff and Directors to review upcoming projects and discuss program quality and effectiveness Professionalism & Collaboration Attend staff meetings, trainings, and required professional development opportunities. Work collaboratively with Club staff, volunteers, and leadership to achieve program and organizational goals. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the program and Club.

Organization-wide responsibilities:

Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by the Boys & Girls Club; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BGC policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BGC, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate BGC staff. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior experience working with children. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Ability to maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. Creativity, initiative, adaptability, and a high degree of self-direction. Ability to work with diverse populations and promote cultural sensitivity. Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR certification (provided by BGC). Must pass CORI, SORI, and reference checks. Familiarity with Chrome OS, OSX, and Windows computers; comfort with Apple and Android devices. Preferred Coursework or degree in STEM, education, child development, or related field. Passion for STEM and childcare. Experience using, maintaining and troubleshooting 3D printers. Desire to learn and share knowledge with others. 2-3 years of experience in youth-focused STEM programming, including staff supervision and budget management. Skills Energetic, reliable, and passionate about youth development. Ability to inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in young learners. Strong program planning and instructional skills. Ability to engage and mentor children through hands-on, inquiry-based STEM activities. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand or walk for multiple hours daily. Ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in active, sometimes noisy environments. Work Environment In-person, after-school program based at teen center locations in Stoneham, Wakefield and Saugus.
